Probably mentioned it in a thread years ago, but Robbie Flower was/is my favourite non-Cats footy star. There was one of those school holiday footy clinics the VFL used to run along the old railway yards outside the MCG. Each team had hundreds of kids, except us. We topped maybe a dozen. So few, the player in charge of us - a very young Mark Yeates - took his ciggies and walked off. Flower saw what happened and ran over, taking us for a run and drills, kick-to-kick...signed gear, the whole thing. I think half the group probably saw their first Premiership last year.

I'm not writing off Melbourne yet. I can recall us in our golden era doing the same about this time of the year, dropping games. It's a long season, and who knows what kind of training loads the Dees have as they prepare for the second half of the year. Get May back into their defense, and things will pick up for them again.

Interestingly, If the Lions can win by a good amount tomorrow, they can take top spot.

Footy is momentum stuff this year with 6-6-6. If we get momentum hawkins cameron and stengle can slam on goals in bunches. If our midfield and rhys can stand up for 4 weeks in finals we canwin it. But thats a huge if.

Carlton in 1995 lost 2 consecutive games , against 2 bottom teams- Swans and Saints iirc, and won every other game plus the GF against us.

Footy is momentum stuff this year with 6-6-6. If we get momentum hawkins cameron and stengle can slam on goals in bunches. If our midfield and rhys can stand up for 4 weeks in finals we canwin it. But thats a huge if.

with our fwd line getting anything approaching 50-50 through the middle is a win for us. Easier said than done, unfortunately. Imagine 2007 midfield with 22 fwd line
