SDK a lock but Cerra on a wing instead of Holmes? Holmes has been an important player in the team that finished 2 games clear top of the ladder and Premiership favourites.

Plus some are saying guys like King (was 22 by the end of the season) shouldn't count, as he had his 22nd birthday during the season.

When they say 22 under 22 they mean anyone who hasn't turned 23 by the end of the season so really a 22 under 23 but that doesn't sound as good.

Holmes wasn’t listed in the squad for the team so was never going to make the team. He’ll be a lock for next year

Maxy missed 7 games in the middle of the year. That was always going to make it very difficult to nail down a spot this year.

Still, by the time he picks up a position in this team of young guns in 2023, he could easily be a premiership player. So I don't imagine he'll be that fussed about making it or missing out.

Good to see 2 Geelong players make the list :thumbsu:

Just quickly as they seem to be the team of the hour, is there a club is recent memory more infatuated with 'The good old days' then Essendon? I know there's some on here that think we've got a boys club culture, or at least have in the past, but this Essendon board is a different level.

It would be like if the Cats didn't win a final for the next 20 years and said...

"Right, Tom Harley as CEO, Joel as coach and Scarlo, Corey and Enright as assistants. Jimmy Bartel as head of football operations and let's even bring Ryan Gamble back, just for the heck of it...anyone know what Bomber is up to nowadays? Let's get him back too"

Followed a lot of the coverage on Clarko - geez the man is all class. Not just that, but also a really smart dude. Reminds me a lot of Chris Scott, to be honest. There's miles between them and other coaches like Fagan, Hinkley, Hardwick, Voss etc. I reckon Clarko might be one of the smartest guys in the AFL system. You can already see him sewing seeds in the media that'll benefit the players and the coaching team at North. They're really lucky to have him.

I feel kind of gross saying all of that. But he's not a Hawk anymore, so I guess it's okay.

Incredibly good coach, for sure. But to suggest that Clarko is all class just isn't backed by the facts, in my opinion. There's been plenty of evidence of how he has treated people and property over the years to underline the fact that he's a ruthless operator who takes no prisoners when he is in the moment.

It's probably been a huge factor in his success, no doubt. But, on the evidence of recent times, it's hard to believe that many of his premiership players (and, tellingly, the leaders within that group) would be likely to rush to use the word 'class' when describing their former mentor.

Adrian Dodoro at Essendon is a name nearly always mentioned by Bombers fans on here as someone that needs to go.

Is he sticking around?
Let's hope so. After all, where would we be in trade period without his "I'll give you a future fourth-round pick for (insert AA-quality player's name here), if you'd like to take Tom Cutler for two first-rounders" shtick?

May have yet again missed the Finals but staying in the News Cycle with their off field bloodbath and shenanigans ;)
They couldn't get Hird back could they?

If they get Hird back, that is completely insane, but that is how we know that Essendon goes.
