i cant believe people want to go full rebuild when these clowns are the supposed best teams in the comp atm. refresh, reload, hit a full pre-season and try again next year.
Yep, been saying it all year.

As bad as we were at times, you just can't afford to pack-it-in in this era. Unbelievably weak top 4, and it'll be that way for a few years yet.

Port are next in line in terms of having a dominant era, but I reckon it comes when all of JHF, Rozee & Butters are over 25 and they have a bankable key forward and defender option.

Gravity gets 3 weeks...Maynard will walk.
I reckon he has got reckless, high and servere covered under the standard format of the MRP so his only hope of playing in the GF is a trip to the tribunal.I'm not sure if it's already been referred.no pressure.I'm tipping they find a way for him to play in the GF if Pies make it.

Early days, game 1 finals; we were never able to put together 2 good pressure games this year, after our little 5 game flurry. BUT, extenuating circumstances.
Of course we will retry. Atkins, Blicavs, Cameron, Close, Danger, DeK, Guthries, Henry's, Rohan, Stanley, Stengle, Stewart, Tuohy- a pretty good nucleus with a bit of luck.

Think he means if we can get back to 80-100% of 2022 form, then we're right back in it.

Weren't good enough this year, that's obvious, and I reckon we lose last night against either team on this year's form.

However, 12 months ago we blow them away. That was a deplorable display of football, and the worst part is they are probably the two best teams.

How was Sidebottom last night - class player with a good football brain

But in those conditions last night - it was territory game - gain as much territory for your team

And i reckon he put about half a dozen out of bounds deliberately - and he conned the umps every single time
The wildest one was the one he kicked directly to the boundary line but because a player got a fingernail on it was deemed touched and not out on the full but somehow not deliberate?!

That particular final tested us. After and during the game, there were many comments. Great if you missed them. Nothing sinister, just that we were lucky, Rohan had a rare great final, and at times, Pies had our measure.
Oh yep that pies team could have beaten us that day- and they would have gone on to win the flag- but they didn’t because we were good enough to get up. But I don’t think they are playing that well this September - so are gettable -if anyone is up to the task remains to be seen. Dees blew it. Pies get rested and daicos back, so they are in the box seat, but I don’t mind brissy’s form. Bit grittier than usual.

Even if he smothered that ball, he was landing shoulder first into Brayshaw's head.

They talk about it being in split seconds, but they forget something very important. These guys are professional athletes at the very top of the tree in their sport. They work in split seconds. They see things in slow motion. They have incredible balance and agility (except Mason Cox), their timing is near perfect, and they see patterns of play seconds before the fans and commentators see it. It's like how boxers operate. Its completely controlled and to the naked eye it looks spontaneous and random, but its very coordinated.

Maynard would have known exactly what was happening the whole time that play was going on.

It wasnt an accident. An accident is Rohan clipping Cameron.
Yes. And Maynard’s style of play means something like this was always on the cards- he’s aggro and undisciplined.
No need to remind us of the Rohan/ Cameron incident!

Absolutely. Hot garbage last night. If the Pies win the flag they will be the worst premier I've ever seen. Hopefully Brisbane can get the job done.

This!

Context of the game is important too. Brayshaw is a very important player for the Dees, storming out of a centre clearance. Maynard sees an opportunity.

Why don’t we see players ironed out this way every week? Because defending players don’t jump into oncoming players with a shoulder charge! They absolutely try to smother but just don’t jump towards an oncoming player, that’s reckless. If the AFL is serious this should get 3 weeks.

Melbourne lost a star player for the game and Brayshaw won’t play again this year even if they make the GF.

He was amazing. Big game player. I always considered Mitch Duncan and Sidebottom equivalent players.

I have a feeling about Sydney tonight. Think the Carlton hype train is about to come to a screaming, and hilarious, halt.
Nah sydney couldnt even beat a cooked Melbourne at home with nothing to play for. Closer to winning a flag at 3 quarter-time last year than today even if they bradbury a win here.

Tend to agree - i think the Swans can be in front a h/time - their 2nd halves are the problem

I know it was a dead rubber - and at Marvel - but Carlton their last game against GWS - Terrible is being kind to them

Totally accidental. I actually quite like Maynard. He’s a total lunatic on the field but I love his passion.
Nah, he is a complete goose. Faux tough guy, who plays the standover man against players half his size (or if he can snipe from the blindside). Kind of like a 2023 version of Mumford.

I swear Richmond fans think we have a chip on our shoulder about them even though we actually don't. They do know we've won more flags than them in recent times right?
Comfortably the most insecure supporters in the comp. And that’s saying something.
