There's a theory they guard the corridor well and force teams to play chip-chip along the flanks, and clog up the forward line. So the opposition is always taking more difficult shots at goal from the pocket/flank or from a long way out.

We may not have gone back to back but Melbourne still every chance for a back to back of their own

Well the Pies certainly never do it easy. They trusted their defence and rode their luck to hold onto that lead. If Melbourne were clinical late on we'd be talking about a sizeable choke job.

67 to 27 inside 50s Melbourne's way after Collingwood's initial burst. But Melbourne don't have a forward line that can punish teams and two of their players that could - Fritsch and Pickett - blew crucial chances throughout.

You need a powerful midfield and a strong forward line to beat Collingwood. Most teams have one but not the other. They remain gettable but it's difficult to have much faith in the chasing pack.
