Both of the games today didn't reach any really high standard for me. I turned them off pretty quickly. How bad was Essendon? Truly putrid. Made Port players look better than they are. Norf are really playing bad footy.

Ess great last week though- they are poor tonight. Port is definitely in contention this year again.

Want to see those two smash it in a big final before I consider them anything much other than downhill skiers. They love belting up on crap opposition but seem to go missing when it’s tough and hard. Both uber talented though.

In any close game, there's about 20 things that cost a game.

Brisbane 112 d. Norf 42 in the earlier game, followed by Port 111 d. Essendon 42. A point away from having 2 identical scorelines on the same day.

It feels to me like Essendon have put up the same type of side for about 15 years. The players change but the pattern of results is always similar.

Do not agree. For the first quarter and a half dons pressure was excellent. Then the all universe coach Hinckley made some coverage adjustments and afterwards the port midfield was absolutely stellar

I watched the first 40 mins of Roos v BLues a few weeks ago and thought North had talent and would be a sleeper to knock off a team or two this year.

They have kids that are guns and will be monsters in the coming years it seems.

Clearly however not getting it done yet - and fair enough - they need time to get there... just expected some of their older kids to be stitching it more together.

Of course they'll hit their straps V us lol
