Opposition players know they definitely got the advantage over LT. If he is the instigator he's guilty and if he is the victim he is staging.

His sneaky pack goals are a bonus. For a player as skillful as Basti, he needs to be nailing 9/10 when running into open goals. Would do his confidence the world of good also.

I agree, I don't think we get enough goals from our mids (when they are playing mid anyway). If Basti started nailing his shots, it would absolutely make his spot more secure. As it stands I don't see him playing round one in any other spot than sub, and that's if one of wood and black don't get picked. If we go with both of those, then to the VFL with Basti.

Agreed, but Blacky looked a fair way off on the weekend. I am hoping Wood plays.

Ability wise, Bastinac is best 18, just not playing like. His tackling needs to improve two fold as well.

I think that Basti has learnt a bad habit ( or technique) when running in to kick a goal. If this can be corrected and most things can with hard work and the right mental preparation, he'll kick more than he misses.

Bastinac is a better player currently than Wood, Turner and McDonald. Close call between him, Gibbo and Ats. However he has stagnated somewhat playing primarily an outside role in 2014. He looks a little bigger this year and potentially will find himself in the more traditional rover role, a role which suits him much better. I think he does need to work harder in the gym to get stronger and bigger to make the most of his inside abilities, if the coaches see him as a full time, well rounded mid into the future.

Depends on how the coaches see the midfield shaping up. In short, do they view Basti as a like for like replacement for Levi? Perhaps they will they look to spread the load amongst Cunners, Swallow, Wells, JZ and Dal Santo. Or perhaps they will add Higgins into that group of rotations.

We will find out soon enough.
