Game Day North vs Hawks, 4:40pm, Sunday, Shepparton

Pretty close to it. He very rarely gets marks/clean-possessions in the forward 50. Pretty sure that's why he [Swallow] didn't look to see if anyone was free (brown) with that mark earlier earlier.
Yeah, I was thinking this. It's as if he said to himself "I'm shit at kicking goals and need to improve my confidence and ability, so I'm using this as an opportunity."

Since he came back from the achilles, I think Swallow has been a much better captain to be honest.
And/but, yeah I agree with this. It came after he and Petrie read my comments about leadership on here, I'm sure of it. ;)

Starting team will be interesting after last two weeks. ..we have a good depth atm which is promising.
I'd love to see Higgins next game against the Tigers. Haven't seen him play live since the last time I was persuaded to attend a Bulldogs game several years ago.

A journeyman and club man but only a premiership player if around ten other players fall to the flu?
If that's in response to patch, then not necessarily. Like some other posters have said, he HAS a lot of the tools. He HAS had some great games. But for whatever reason/s in recent times he consistently hasn't quite made the level a lot of us want and expect. If he's in the VFL, IMO, he has a better chance of having some solid games, gaining some confidence, and working on his deficits. He's a tough hombre, it looks a little bleak, but I'm not prepared to count him out quite yet.

Did anyone else think watching the game that our team has matured pretty well in terms of implementing the game style the coaches want them to play and doing so pretty seamlessly?

Yesterday I saw a mix of:

The fast, run and gun handball game of a few years back when we were playing against the wind (probably should've used this more in the first qtr.)

Harder defensive running and transitioning as we managed to actually stop a few Hawk forward thrusts through the middle when they looked certain in getting some sort of score

And in the last couple of minutes of the game I think it was Atley and a few others iced the clock and tried to maintain possession.

I thought that was pretty good and the win was impressive all things considered. Fix the forward entry bombs and maintain that sort of intensity and endeavour and we will be hard to stop.

North had the better of us half way through the 2nd ... Nothing changed after that.
Norths ability to break fast through the centre is where you guys have the wood on the us ... we looked very poor at stages.

Again, nice win ... reckon you'll be up there again this year!

You'd want to be careful using the Norf word on our board. Not a threat but it's not tolerated.

Apologies ... Didn't realise it wasn't liked ... Won't happen again
Edited, and no more.

Contact between North Melbourne’s Jarrad Waite and Hawthorn’s Ben Stratton from the second quarter of Saturday’s NAB Challenge match at Shepparton was assessed. Based on a medical report from the Hawthorn Football Club and the available video evidence, the panel said that the ball was kicked into the North Melbourne forward line and Stratton was cutting across the path of the leading Waite to intercept the ball and take a defensive mark. As the Hawthorn player prepared to contest the ball, Waite and Hawthorn’s Brian Lake were also approaching to contest the ball. Waite was legitimately entitled to contest the ball and sought to spoil the Hawthorn player. In his spoiling action, Waite made high contact to Stratton with the bicep area of his upper arm. It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
Finally common sense prevails..........now where's the Lewis clothes lining Lindsay appraisal?

Hi,

Is there somewhere I can watch the full replay of yesterday's game ?

Isn't it normally available on the official north website ?

Thanks for your help.
The AFL has a free trial of the AFL Live Pass going on at the moment for the NAB thingy. You can sign up for that and watch the replay, just remember to unsubscribe so you don't get charged :)

Hard to see either of these were reports ... 50m for sure, but nothing more ... game on, better team won

Reverse the roles ( with Lewis) and LT would've been reported and at the very least fined $1000 for rough conduct.

Bastinac would be a damaging player if he nailed his 'running into goals' shots.

Basti can kick these goals, he did so yesterday. He just needs to believe that he can.

Turners link up play, wowser he is so smart.
There was a quick and effective handball that Mitchell dished out at one point at 180 degrees from the direction he received the ball and I thought, "Wish we had guys that did that (regularly)." Nekminnit, Turner does something very similar.

My two cents worth as I attended yesterdays game.

I ask a local fella if we'll be able to go on the ground during the breaks and listen to the coaches etc. Hell no he said, the Hawk boys will get molested by the crazy local Hawk fans. ( ladies)
I point to who I thought was Dermie Brereton siting on the fence looking bigger than I remembered but the mullet was beautiful and no one was paying him any attention. Nah that's a chick he said.

Anywho, The Hawks ran hard both ways in the first qtr, filling any holes in our fwd line which made scoring very difficult. As the game wore on they weren't able to keep doing it.

Petrie is a magnet for opposition players, couldn't find any room. Which did free up others with opportunities.

Tarrant was lucky ( yeah I think he deserves a couple of sacks of it) I thought he was out of position quite often but the ball found it's way to him, I hope this is the catalyst for a big year. A nice confidence booster.

Sam wright- shit he knows where to be, positioned himself brilliantly.

Jacobs- in everything, not sure whether it was the relaxed atmosphere.

Obviously no need to write about the Boomers, Swallows etc., We know what we get.

Mason Wood has some real size about him and looked a hell of a lot more likely than Black. We all how skilled he is.

Black wasn't good. Needed the run though. Am sure he'll get back to his best.

McKenzie played with more intent than I'd previously seen, a good thing.

Now I'm an unabashed Majak fan, we looked better when he was on the field. I liked his work down back , sat 15 meters off the contest and flew in to time a spoil perfectly, probably could have marked three or four but did the team thing.

Special mention to Mrs and MR Firrito a lovely couple, and Michael can be a naughty boy LOL.

Now our game plan. I realised what our plan B is.Higgins and Waite.

See contest win contest, see ball get ball. We've no trouble winning it ( Plan A)

Higgins and Waite are two that could help us after we've won the contest.

Was only a praccy match bit the signs were good.

lol, the hawks supporters on their board were calling him a 'dirty stager' after the incident.

Lewis was 25m off the ball and dragged Thomas to the ground.

Not reportable IMO, but definitely a down field 50.
