the Duncan proposal would've been a better deal and then keep Caddy.

We need a second key fwd. When we were winning flags we had 2 and every team that wins has the same build.
For me lets use some of these picks and try get one of the GWS guys down to help out.

100% spot on. Caddy fills Duncan spot and speed replaced with cockatoo plus we get picks 10 (back into the first round) and 22. If we are in a mood to trade out players who were found to be suspect id do that deal. I find Mitch Duncan to be a bit hit or miss.... I would of taken that deal but perhaps being pick 10 (which hawthorn owns) they didn't want to help facilitate the JOM deal with Hawthorn....

Judging by this board I would say a lot of our supporters are entitled.
See I don't see it that way, I just think people are disappointed as we started the period chasing Deledio and Tuohy and end up getting Tuohy, missing on Deledio and losing Caddy. I think the expectations were high due to what was put out there but the result so far has been underwhelming. Its arguable we have gone backwards in trading so far. There might be a last minute occurrence but not sure.

Disappointment yes, entitlement not sure.

Since Mitch Brown was taken in 2008 (8 years ago) we have also drafted Cockatoo, Gregson, Kolo, Thurlow, McCarthy, Guthrie, Menzel and Duncan. I've probably missed a few too. Also brought in Danger, Smith, Selwood, Tuohy and Henderson who will all play 100 games.

Lang will still be good, is only 20-21. Hamling was a second round pick, now at his third club after 20 odd games in 6 years.
The fact your listing blokes who haven't even made it illustrates my point. Gregson, Cockatoo and Kolo haven't delivered a semblance of a career yet.

More worrying is two of those are regular senior players at other clubs (and Smedts could easily be number three). Maybe it's not just poor drafting but poor development as well.

Hamling played 11 and 12 at WB, not really an improving trendline. Brown at the bombers because they had no one else. Very long bow drawn here.

I'm actually not even sure what you are implying? That Wells has stuffed those picks as he isn't getting superstars with pick, 15, 28 or 32? The fact some of these picks have been made while we were challenging for flags and with compromised drafts and yet all the players you listed are still in the league tells me they must be decent players?

But we didn't want/need to get rid of him and created the want for him to leave ourselves by shopping him around.

FFS.

Maybe we did want/need to get rid of him - why would we shop Motlop around, our second best goal scorer this year? We didn't want/need to get rid of him given his stats are better than Caddy's.

Gives you great confidence when the captain states unequivocally that he will remain at the club, and he's gone less than a week later.

Even better, this is from Stephen Wells, less than 24 hours ago:

"Josh Caddy is happy to go to Richmond if a suitable deal can be done but he's also very, very happy here at Geelong and I'm expecting him to be playing at Geelong in 2017 and beyond," Wells told NAB AFL Trade Radio."

Any chance that the List Management Department at Geelong can have rubber walls fitted?

But he finished that with its up to josh which made me feel that he was possibly off and Rich had offered him something. I reckon thats the future captaincy which we would not have offered him as we don't quite rate him in that fashion and I can never remember him being a game breaker. Somebody said earlier they thought he was selfish footballer and I think there is truth there. He didn't help Joel last year which was his perfect opportunity to show his contested ball bull marker.

I didn't want him to go however for anything less than their pick 15. A pick in the twenties seems odd and unfair. I have never liked rich because I remember them as the powerhouse that is the hawks now and they were horrendous as supporters when up and about.

He's massively over hyped. The wells special crap that gets constantly thrown around is beyond idiotic. Caddy, Brown, McIntosh, Mitch Clark, Kersten, Smedts, Hamling all drafted or traded for inside the top 30 all busts in the last 7 years. That's not a brilliant recruiter. Time to move on after this draft. Don't even look at the 07 draft it's a nightmare.

Looks like we have shut up shop while we still have some supporters, doubt your all going to get you mystery mid that you were talking about....or anything else to brutally honest.
No cap space to bring anything decent in even Black would be a stretch for the club

Rated a "d" by Wallace on trade radio. Thought that was generous! I'm very confused but not panicking. We are all outsiders looking in so let's just trust the clubs decison makers and see what happens. Will still be featuring at the pointy end next season.

So by all accounts Josh got a call from his mate Dion who asked if he wanted to come and play with him at Richmond next year. They must be bloody good friends. Although maybe less so after Josh has actually played for Richmond for a year...
