If Caddy wants out coz he's going to get more midfield time well this confirms my view that he was and is a selfish self focussed type player that i never warmed to. So that's why he went and he was easy to lure. U suspects and others are as surprised, gobsmacked. We'll see what comes next.

Geelong: Trade kings to trade joke in the space of 12 months. Bartel, retired, Enright retired, Smedts hone, Caddy gone, Vardy nearly gone, and STILL no money in the salary cap for. Decent player. Which spuds are getting paid too much?

Absolute disaster....

I asked this earlier and the response was apparently every club is paying their spuds too much.

DONE DEAL: MARCHBANK AND PICKETT JOIN BLUES

Carlton has traded for GWS pair Caleb Marchbank and Jarrod Pickett and as well as a second round pick in 2017. They give the Giants picks 45 and 58, both third-rounders, and a first round pick in 2017

-Touhy in is right on the money for what we needed. I praise that deal.
-Caddy out whilst not ideal is managable. Reminds me a little when we traded Moloney, good player but plenty of others to run through midfield. I think Menegola & Lang will be quite capable to push on.
-kersten always gonna go. Black in to replace him, fine, whatever.
Vardy, i had high hopes but he never consistantly played.
- Smedts. Dont care really.
- We keep Motlop. He comes into 2017 with tomohawks boot up his bum

Details of O'Meara deal
Hawks got O'Meara deal for pick 10 and swapped 48, 66 and 70 for Blues' 2nd round in 2017. No Hawks player involved

Oh great. So Gold Coast blinked when it came time to put their tough talk in to action, allowing the Hawks to get JOM without giving up a single player. Absolute weakness on their part. They must be taking trade negotiation tips from the Geelong brains trust.

At the start of this week, the overwhelming opinion on this board was that he was a loyal Geelong player who loved Geelong. Had bought a house recently and everything. Plenty were openly taunting Richmond supporters about how superior he was, how he'd never been dropped etc.

I'm predicting that tone to shift slightly now.

We won this trade period, cool your heels.

I think somewhat similarly. Not our greatest trade period but yeah cool the heels. So much melting, panic and Wells out drivel.

With hindsight it's easy to see that Motlop was earmarked for trade long ago possibly as far back as when he returned for preseason out of condition. The club wanted to retain his currency so they felt a need to play him week after week in the hope that he would show something to increase his rapidly diminishing trade value. Wells and Hocking were shocked at the lack of interest and whatever plans we had were smashed.

I'm not blaming Motlop entirely. Clearly he need close monitoring over the break. I hope there's a plan to do just that this time around.

Pretty much exactly as I see it. Each taken in isolation, the only trade that I feel we were hard done by with is the Caddy trade, and even then I'm not sure that pick 24 is too far off the mark.

I think a lot of the pessimism in this thread is due to the fact that we didn't have any clear wins, but overall I don't think it was as bad as it appears most do.

Don't we have their 2017 second round?
Secondly 48, 66 and 70 for said second round. Are you drunk Carlton? Gift wrapping JOM to Hawthorn.

It depends how we use that p24.Caddy is always going to be a good honest battler but he lacks class.
Vardy and kersten didn't have a lot of value so we got what we got.
2E paid overs but we needed some run of the backline and we are lacking back flankers was a sellers market here.
Black we needed another forward ,if he can get on the park and play good footy, will a win.
