I think somewhat similarly. Not our greatest trade period but yeah cool the heels. So much melting, panic and Wells out drivel.
I'd agree without the Caddy trade. The Caddy trade changes everything as while we got okay value, we are aiming for a flag and I don't see trading a best 22 player as a good thing unless you have someone else to come in and take their spot.

With hindsight it's easy to see that Motlop was earmarked for trade long ago possibly as far back as when he returned for preseason out of condition. The club wanted to retain his currency so they felt a need to play him week after week in the hope that he would show something to increase his rapidly diminishing trade value. Wells and Hocking were shocked at the lack of interest and whatever plans we had were smashed.

I'm not blaming Motlop entirely. Clearly he need close monitoring over the break. I hope there's a plan to do just that this time around.

He seems to be posting every one of his meals on Instagram.

DONE DEAL: SWANS AND POWER SWAP PICKS

The Swans have traded two first round picks, 14 & 17 and a second round pick, No.31, to Port for picks 9, 19 and 49.

Yep. I'd be assigning a chaperone!

Pretty much exactly as I see it. Each taken in isolation, the only trade that I feel we were hard done by with is the Caddy trade, and even then I'm not sure that pick 24 is too far off the mark.

I think a lot of the pessimism in this thread is due to the fact that we didn't have any clear wins, but overall I don't think it was as bad as it appears most do.

True. Especially given Mitchell was worth pick 14, a far superior player.

We had all the leverage though with the Caddy situation and we didn't use any of it.

Wonder how Joel is feeling right now coming out and saying Josh will be at GFC to be trade 24hrs later for a 2nd rnd pick better learn to duck and weave boys.

I agree. Mixed message.
However powder dry until draft night. I'll go spare if it's a midfielder. Needs to be a key forward.

Somebody mentioned 400k.

If that's true I'm going to scream.
My understanding was he wouldve been on about $400k at norf, so that contract needs to be honoured, but that we can make it part of a longer contract paying less overall per year, e.g $400k 2017, $200k (or whatever the club offered) in 2018.

-Touhy in is right on the money for what we needed. I praise that deal.
-Caddy out whilst not ideal is managable. Reminds me a little when we traded Moloney, good player but plenty of others to run through midfield. I think Menegola & Lang will be quite capable to push on.
-kersten always gonna go. Black in to replace him, fine, whatever.
Vardy, i had high hopes but he never consistantly played.
- Smedts. Dont care really.
- We keep Motlop. He comes into 2017 with tomohawks boot up his bum
And who's got their foot up Hawkins arse? God help us if he's the example setter at the club

Reckon there could be some truth in that. Think Wells might have been blindsided by the lack of interest in Motlop and then Caddy's trade request.

Hopefully it gives Motlop a kick up the arse.

So your saying that having a whinge at the umpires after every 1-on-1 contest inside 50 isnt the right way to go about setting an example...Im shocked i say, SHOCKED!.

Some people on this board need a reality check bloody fast.

is there any way you can find out what the 2017 draft order would look like as in futures that have been traded?

Calls for Wells to go is ridiculous I've been pissed off with a lot of this stuff but let's not go overboard.

Two things can change the fortunes of the deals for Geelong. Who we pick up with pick 24 and how they go. And if Black can have a decent career at the club.

Really happy to get Tuohy who along with having Thurlow back should help our backline.
I hope Black is given a chance to be the second forward with Hawkins.

It depends how we use that p24.Caddy is always going to be a good honest battler but he lacks class.
Vardy and kersten didn't have a lot of value so we got what we got.
2E paid overs but we needed some run of the backline and we are lacking back flankers was a sellers market here.
Black we needed another forward ,if he can get on the park and play good footy, will a win.
Here we go again........it's McIntosh, Delaney, and Clark and Stanley all over again.
STOP RECRUITING BROKEN DOWN LIST CLOGGERS FFS!

Yep - Pretty much the same for me.

It appears we are in the minority.
