Also suspect that a factor was other clubs exploiting our dependence on 'being in a flag' window.Did mean we have a soft underbelly. Doesn't explain Caddy though-that just sucks.

Considering we are in the win now mode, I rekon we'll look at Barlow to try and offset the loss of Caddy somewhat even if it's only for depth/insurance

I'd rather give more inside mid minutes to Lang and Cockatoo

also what's with the name change, we already have a million cats around here

Yes, a 300k pay cut.

To move to the shithole that's Western Sidanee.

Flags are important though, can't begrudge him for wanting one.

He hasnt taken a pay cut richmond are just paying the 300k.

Barlow is the best of the likely DFAs not sure we need an inside mid though.

I wouldnt be against henderson and Richards wouldnt be the worst kpf insurance although i doubt he comes here.

Yep, you're right.

My brain hurts from all of this trade stuff.

Tbh the afl needs to stop other clubs and gws using that loophole together. Cap the amount of your players salary that can be paid by the club they used to be with.

Can only assume the club thinks mots and caddy played some crap finals and wants players that can perform on the big stage.

Not sure it helps relying more on blicavs and duncan now, couple of more players that seem to go missing when whips are cracking.

At least we still have the ****, and lang should have plenty of opportunity to show what he's got.

They were saying on trade radio that even this year Collingwood were still paying part of Shaw's contract.

I've worked it out. The club gave all the players an IQ test as next year's game plan is going to be so complex that only players of above average intelligence will be able to implement the advanced tactics. Smedts, Caddy and Vardy all failed the test and were traded out immediately, irrespective of their fair value.

Maybe not, but for what they both went for and since we've ended up with Black, it'd be nice to know if we even asked.
What people don't know is that one of his relatives is an employee of the club and his entire family are mad Collingwood supporters. He was never going anywhere else.

And he retired last season!. Wow.

  • Or is that Heath?
Yeah Heath at GWS. They have a nice little strategy of paying overs to players with their abundance of draft picks in order to have their original club pay a hefty amount of their salary, effectively allowing them to have a team that is earning above the salary cap, but being paid by different clubs. Richmond are apparently paying a fair chunk of the Deledio contract, which is why they traded so generously.

So Deledio has taken a pay cut to join GWS. This makes our inability to work out a deal for him even more perplexing. There is definitely something fishy going on.

Gws are rorting the rules and other clubs are helping them. Win win to them.

You're not wrong. Up until 2 days ago being at Geelong was a foregone conclusion... and for Josh Caddy.

Something happened.

It works for gws as they have an excess of high picks but lack cap space so they can afford to trade 'overs' for A graders if their current clubs pay part of their salary and those clubs near the bottom (like richmond and the dogs in 2014) have lots of cap space and want high picks to rebuild so they will pay their players salary at another club to get a better pick. The middle range clubs dont have the higher picks to offer nor the spare cap space to do it. Its a rort the afl should tighten/close but thats unlikely imo as they love gws.

Heath, griffen, deledio. All where their current clubs paid some of their salary so gws could fit them in the cap and gws paid 'overs' with the picks to grease the wheels.

Makes sense. I'm not sure why clubs are feeding them though, especially with the academy talent still coming through. They're making a rod for their own back.
