Pretty happy with who we drafted, but this still has to play out before calling it a masterstroke.

Finish in the bottom 4 next year I guarantee you will be raging.

I look at it this way ... Next year's 1st round pick was an unknown. Dont know where we would finish, and the quality of the draft is suspect. So we chose to pick our 2017 1st rounder one year early! That's Marshall ... he might get a game or two, but we can afford to let him get stronger, develop his game, get used to the team, club, and structure, and be ready to smash it in 2018.

So we havent given up our 2017 pick ... Marshall is our 2017 1st-round draftee ... selected a year early, fully de-risked, and ready for game 1 in 2018.

That's it. He's not perfect but he has an aggression and a toughness that our team lacks. For that reason I'm glad we took him, even if Berry and Gallucci were available.

The more I watch his highlights the more I see an aboriginal Tom Rockliff. The fend offs, the physique, etc. I can see a lot of Rocky in him. Hopefully he can find the ball like him.

Nah. He probably racked up more metres gained in that 3 minute highlights video than Rockliff has racked up in his career.
