Great pick - love this kid, has an amazing attitude and is such a hard bastard. Kicking efficiency the only query at this stage but you can say the same of a lot of those real big-bodied mids that are the pinnacle of the game right now.

Will definitely be watching closely!

Great kid, and he's another one for the Wingard-Impey trick videos.
Nice story got a kick in the ass or perhaps didn't know what he should be doing and then set about working hard to fix it and improve himself.

He gets though preseason he'll start. I'll go off Quigleys write up and maybe we can find a spot off the half forward line for him.

So is his nick name going to Sargent?

The more I watch his highlights the more I see an aboriginal Tom Rockliff. The fend offs, the physique, etc. I can see a lot of Rocky in him. Hopefully he can find the ball like him.

I actually think you couldn't compare him to anyone more different. He didn't get 20 cheapies in the back half.

Plug and play: Eight draftees ready to go in 2017

CLUBS pick players for their career, not especially about the impact they are going to have in their debut season.
But everyone likes the players who can come into the AFL and have an immediate influence at the top level. Here are eight prospects who are ready to go.

Sam Powell-Pepper (Pick No.18, Port Adelaide)
Big-bodied midfielder
The West Australian prospect has the hardened body to play at the next level, and he matches that with his power, physicality and speed. Powell-Pepper's ability to play in a few different spots – across half-back, in the midfield and floating forward – also makes it easier to see him coming into a side and playing a role. The Power picked him with one of their top-20 selections and he'll suit their attacking style.

So it's not just a few of us that thinks he can play AFL straight away. Very good to hear.

Per the Herald Sun's See who your club picked and what to expect in our AFL Draft club-by-club analysis

"... Powerful midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper has overcome plenty of hardships to reach this stage and has the respect of the recruiting world. Powell-Pepper never recorded 30 disposals from 51 games watched by Champion Data, but his metres gained figures are high. The Power are yet to get many games out of the past couple of drafts, so will be hoping he can impact next season ...."
