Player Watch Pick #18 (2016) - Sam Powell-Pepper

Him and Mcluggage have the most fun names to say in this draft. On that basis I'm happy with our drafting. Don't pull a Macmillan-Pittard on us, Powell-Pepper.
We'll get Byrne-Jones to have a word with him before it blows up.

If there was one guy i absolutely want to draft its Powell-Pepper.

Love the under 18 all stars game where he launches that set shot from 60 and puts it through (sure they called it touched but replay shows it was clearly behind the line)

Combined clearly showed his goal kicking ability. No one else even came close.

The cheers shook the house when Gill announced that we had taken SPP :)

Truly believe this kid is going to be a superstar... Welcome to the club Sammy P!

Sam was who a lot of us supporters at West Coast wanted at our first pick, but the recruiters at the Club thought otherwise. You can have him on loan then we will trade to get him back home again after his contract expires!! You owe us a favour seeing we let you have Brad Ebert:rolleyes:
Your club must have had other needs. PP is exactly what we need to support Ollie :)

Plug and play: Eight draftees ready to go in 2017

CLUBS pick players for their career, not especially about the impact they are going to have in their debut season.
But everyone likes the players who can come into the AFL and have an immediate influence at the top level. Here are eight prospects who are ready to go.

Sam Powell-Pepper (Pick No.18, Port Adelaide)
Big-bodied midfielder
The West Australian prospect has the hardened body to play at the next level, and he matches that with his power, physicality and speed. Powell-Pepper's ability to play in a few different spots – across half-back, in the midfield and floating forward – also makes it easier to see him coming into a side and playing a role. The Power picked him with one of their top-20 selections and he'll suit their attacking style.

Keep up that hot yoga Sam

"Peck of Powell Peppers" is too long for a username.

I guess I should be thankful haha

How about just "Peck"?

Unless Sam's uncle is the single best player in West Coast history, the situations aren't really comparable.

I was Haawingard and in the past Lurk3r.

Continuing the trend of terrible usernames :D

Ok cool ... lol

Hopefully Peck and Quad be a gun mid pairing for a long time

Welcome SPP, him along with the other draftees look to meet the areas where we're struggling the most.

He clearly looks like he commands a footy field with his presence and mature body, and will add some much needed hardness and aggression to our midfield to take some of the pressure off Wines and Co.

A few other things which signalled to me that Port is a good fit for him:
- Indigenous heritage; he'll have a good band of support around him at our club to fit right in.
- Went to boarding school; can be relied upon to leave his state and adapt to a new environment.
- Looks coachable, accepted that his skinfolds weren't good enough so went above and beyond what he needed to do to change it. Shows disipline and that he's prepared to meet the obligations of a professional footballer before he's been drafted.

I sense a round 1, 2017 debut is on the cards for him.

I suppose footy karma will demand that one day. I must say I haven't forgotten how reasonable West Coast were there.

I guess Riley Bonner would be grinding his teeth in annoyance. If SPP does crack the 22 early, plus Monfries comes back, it'll be most/all of the year in the Maggies for Bonner.
