It's like all the small forwards who recently invented the concept of forward pressure and chasing opposition players out of defence - because presumably what forwards did for the first 150 years of the game's existence was just stand there with their hands on their hips as defenders waltzed the ball away under no pressure.
Bruce makes a big deal about the quarter back position and how clarko invented that I remember peter burgoyne perfecting that but apparently clarko and his group of merry men did that aswell

They genuinely don't have a better option than Walker. That's the thing. He's still comfortably in their best six forwards.

On this, I actually reckon Walker could be used effectively if they were to keep him really deep. Let him play out of the goal square like an old school Dunstall type and let the Flogarty-type players roam up the ground. He still has a great pair of hands, a good kick and composure under pressure. He's just slow as shit, with low aerobic capacity and a total squib.

They're playing to his biggest weaknesses by trying to run him around in the midfield and in contests.

Brucie's memory is failing him - I reckon it was he that coined the term wrt Paul Roos, way back.

Meanwhile we get sent to Covidtoria with no assurance that the border with Victoria will be open in time for us to return.

These are strange and uncertain times where we must all adapt. Remember we're all in this together and sacrifices need to be made.

Just checked this weekend's fixture and lo n behold guess who's jagged yet another premium Friday night time slot and the sponsorship riches that go with it.

Just like their team song "Good old Collingwood forever they know how to play the game". Must be coz they pull a crowd.

Well if that's the case let's see how many are at tonight's game. This AFL caper is looking more n more like a loaded dice.

...and to think he wanted to play wing this year. Not only is he as slow as sh*t, he's as thick as it too. Btw what you say about his best position is true but sheesh

don't give them any ideas. Where they are right now is just fine by me.

Havent you heard? Clarko actually invented Burgoyne!

Before that he was just a figment of Port's imagination!

Fingers crossed Nicks isn't reading the Port BigFooty forum

Not at all. Walker has probably the worst set of hands for a key forward in the game. His one and only strength is his kick. His field kicking is probably the best of any tall in the comp and his set shot is fantastic. Problem is you can't keep him deep because he can't mark and is far too slow on the lead. You can't play him up the ground to benefit from his field kicking, because he is so slow and teams will abuse that. There really isn't a good spot for him right now in the AFL. Being a good kick is not enough when you get less than 10 touches every game.

I think I remember. Kochie said something about the Greek economy being sh*t because they didn't pay their taxes and you lost your sh*t.

No I "lost my shit" because of the derogatory racial generalization. Its a pretty poor comment to make for someone who thinks of him self as a financial guru, he should know the facts which I won't get into because its not the point, so the only conclusion is he's a racist w***er.

Anyway enough of that.

All the complaining aside about Vic bias this and that. Maybe the solution isn't to complain till we're blue in the face, but to make our selves as strong as possible on and off the field?
That way if the AFL wants to mess us about, it costs them significantly more then it does now.

Yeah port, grow the pie.

Flogarty seeking career counselling as we speak.

Ding ding. Hey Port, we'll break your legs, but if you can just run faster we'll give you more.

The upside of Covid-19 is it's now blatantly obvious the Vic bias in the AFL. Previously it tended to hit one or two non-Vic clubs at a time, the old divide and conquer. Now it's hitting all 8 at once I hope it's a wake up call to all of them, that we need to band together off-field, even if fierce rivals on-field, for own damn good.

Which ironically was his strength as a mobile forward in 2012.

Then they buffed him up to be 'the beast' when Tippett left and he's never been quite as good again. Now it's too late to go back. He's aged beyond his years.

I'm not sure I agree here. WA teams just secured themselves something like 7 games in a row at home (derby + 3 sets of 2 FIFO teams).. after the QLD teams got everyone to play them up there, including giving up home games to have 'home' games on their grounds. Interstate clubs are doing relatively well out of this - just not us.

The big question will be the next block of fixturing. If we don't get a significant patch of home games in a row then it's just BS.

Arguably Dixon is a worse mark but this is more to do with delivery than skills

Delivery! yeah must be......... oh hang on I vividly remember Charlie dropping sitters over a long period and us Q'ing his eyesight.

Sure he clunked a few last Sunday and let's hope this continues because a fit n firing Charlie is crucial for us.

As for Tex I hope they keep playing him coz right now he's a liability to them and as for his ruck craft, as Kane pointed out on FC Monday night

when showing a clip of Tex at a centre bounce down "look at Walker here, he looks like he's dancing with himself" :tearsofjoy:

Kane wasn't even trying to be funny but I pissed myself laughing at Walker gyrating around like a demented puppet on a string.

Someone better than me should put it up. It's genuinely funny. A drunken Tex shadow boxing butterflies that aren't there.
