Anyone wishing for shorter quarters on a permanent basis might want to reflect that the AFL and its broadcasters would only do it in such a way as to be at least neutral as far as ad revenue goes. So that means, one way or another, proportionately less footy and more ads.

More goals would solve this problem ...

An Eagles fan at work is still maintaining the faith - he declared this morning, "We may have lost yesterday, but we'll still win the flag."
That’s stock standard for your average West coast supporter.
As I have said before living in Perth at least you can have a bit of a joke and laugh with the Dockers supporters.
Eagles supporters you just want to punch in the face and yes they are worse than the Crows mood.

ESSENDON will be without Dylan Shiel, Sam Draper and Jye Caldwell for an extended period after scans confirmed the nature of their respective injuries following the round two loss to Port Adelaide.

Shiel will undergo a knee arthroscopy in the coming days after scans confirmed meniscal damage to his left knee. He is expected to be sidelined for at least 4-6 weeks. Draper will be out of action for 8-10 weeks with confirmation the 22-year-old suffered a syndesmosis injury when he landed awkwardly in a marking contest.
After being subbed out of the game in the third quarter, Caldwell will be likely sidelined for 6-8 weeks with a significant hamstring injury.

Is shortening the games really because it's a better contest? I don't think anyone who advocates this is being completely transparent. Coaches are more concerned with protecting the player from injury and a quicker recovery for next week more than it being a better spectacle, let's be honest.

Sam Reid faces two weeks on the sidelines after the Match Review Officer handed the Giants veteran a suspension for his bump on Fremantle superstar Nat Fyfe.

MRO Michael Christian released his findings from Sunday’s Round 2 AFL games, with Reid charged with engaging in rough conduct against Fyfe.

Christian assessed Reid’s incident as careless conduct, high impact and high contact, equating to a two-match ban.

I haven't had the pleasure of going to Perth for more than 40 years, so I haven't experienced a group of Eagles fans together, apart from small pockets of them at Adelaide Oval / AAMI Stadium. Doesn't sound like I've missed out on much......

Ugh. I don't like this one.

Last year’s games sucked. The Twenty20fication of sports for the sake of it is awful.
I liked it, but then I hate things like cricket that tend to drag on for me.
2 hrs is plenty of time to decide a winner.

I’ve been in Perth for about 18 years now.
Work is the only thing that keeps me here. Its like your living overseas but still in Australia 🤪

I was in Perth a few years back and we stayed in Freo. I stood on the foreshore and looked out over the Indian Ocean and thought to myself, the next land out there is South Africa and behind me is the 1500km of desert that I have just flown over. I had the strangest feeling of isolation. I guess people born in Perth do not have that feeling?

Bad luck for draper. He's looked promising in a few games but was absolute poo against us anyway before he went down

Isolation is the word for me but the locals are very anti eastern states that’s why they didn’t mind the never ending lockdown.
Mark McGowan is God over here he even gets cheered when he visits local schools🙄
