I'd normally be triggered by stuff like this, but the reality is we've had two gilt-edge opportunities to do something about this and blew them. As the highest-ranked "non-Victorian" team we should be showing some leadership. Basil's just parroting what the AFL want him to say, just in case he needs his job back.

Not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand it's great to see that a senior board member of another footy club gets called to account for actively campaigning against us on social media in favour of another team.

But on the other hand, it is bloody absurd that a single annoying but otherwise innocuous tweet gets one Collingwood Board member sacked when their past CEO was able to get away with attacking us on a weekly basis with blatant mistruths via his multiple media roles (not to mention his racist attacks on players).

This is a secondary issue, her appointment - not election - to the board was already contentious because she is a Bulldogs supporter, and she hadn’t satisfied the requirement of being a paid-up member for the previous 2 years.

To then follow-up with another visible display of support for the Dogs was moronic.

We win the trade, based on by the time Ken is rid of, Wingard will be either out of the game, or his best long behind him, whilst Burton and X can get coached by someone who can. Neither are better than current Chad, let alone peak Chad. I'd take Chad back in an instant as a midfielder who rests forward.

the most incorrect statement I’ve ever read on here. Burton has done absolutely nothing for us besides be a mediocre pocket that sometimes has a good game.

Chad was unbelievably good in his first few years. Won us many games off his own boot, was then forced to play in a position where he wasn’t as effective, but still pretty good.. look at his numbers through the midfield in his final year.. wasnt a bad as selective revisionists make out he was..

Burton isn’t fit to tie his laces at the moment..

now the trade getting duursma with it was a good deal, no doubt… just saying the point about a flakey pocket being anywhere near what Chad was is so far off it’s laughable..

Remember the time the brains of the club moved our best small forwards and put him into the midfield and took our best midfielder and captain and put him as a small forward.. fun times… what a genius..

Absolutely nobody is questioning this. His first 2-3 years in the system sit comfortably in the ultra elite - I'd struggle to think of anybody better. I'm talking about after his Hinkley-ing.

Honestly I get why people overrate Chad. We all loved him when he came to the club and back when we believed in Ken we expected him to be a club champion with multiple Port flags. It's a hard pill to swallow that he's now playing in a Hawthorn jumper and we're approaching a decade of mediocrity and embarrassment.

What I don't get is why people underrate Burton so much who is an unbelievable player that we get to see week in week out. Yes he had a shit prelim. So did everybody else not named Riley Bonner.

Jury’s out for me with Burton. I hope he becomes the player I hope but what I saw last Sat night isn’t going to cut it when finals come around.
He’s a very neat footballer but he needs to start bringing other things to his game.
