Interesting question - so I looked it up. Mooney is listed at 1.95m/99kg and Bellchambers at 2.02m/106kg)

Once you reach 92kg or so you're in the unlimited heavyweight class for amateur and pro boxing. So both qualify.

It's really up to the contenders to match up their fitness, reach etc once they step in the ring. Capability obviously the key.

BTW, Mike Tyson was about half a foot shorter than his opponent when he became undisputed heavyweight champion and 1987. His technique, power (and sharper teeth) kept him there despite fighting opponents much taller and with greater reach.

Mooney was just way out of his class - kept just at reach distance and and failed to keep his gloves up making him an easy target for a stronger guy with a greater reach.
Bellchambers himself said on one of the fox shows this week he was 130 when first approached & had got down to 123. Either way it was ridiculous for these two to engage, mooney’s an idiot

I know. I thought what freaky magic makes an 8 point lead an insurmountable thing, for around 3 quarters it was unpassable.
Last Friday night we were fed steak, tonight fish fingers.
Sydney had an 8 point lead with 15mins to go and one commentator said a Carlton comeback at that point would be something like ‘monumental’.

I was like ‘eh’?

That’s why I hate the installing caretaker coaches

I still very hard to judge them thanks to the dead cat bounce / new coach effect we see so often that occurs and also once a caretaker gets a few wins it’s very hard for clubs to overlook them thanks to public pressure.
The problem is that a proper recruitment process takes time, which may not be feasible mid season. The other option is to allow the existing coach to complete the season, and use the time to go through a proper recruitment process.

The ironic things is, the Carlton recruitment boss that set up that list is now at the Saints….

Two teams that will likely be in the wilderness for some time.

Carlton have struggled since the draft came in.
John Elliott and his boxes of brown paper bags was the driving force behind Carlton’s success in the early days then later on you had Richard Pratt cooking the books with at one stage having 15 players working for Visy as “environmental ambassadors”
Throw in all the number one picks they had after tanking for years and you have the most corrupt sporting organisation ever in Australia.
May there suffering last for ever.

Their top players are good but bottom 6-10 are poor. Guys kicking out on the full etc.

Something like 2/3 of AFL clubs rely on AFL funding to be viable. We're one.

If I could drop an asterisk grenade with that statement.

If Port Adelaide monopolised all the premium timeslots (including the exclusive blockbusters such as ANZAC Day and Monarch’s Birthday) with all the sponsorship opportunities that entails,

Had 9 local rivals to fill its matchday ticket allocation,

Didn’t have to directly and indirectly prop up a local competition by paying for its AFL license for a second time and having its matchday revenues siphoned in perpetuity,

I’m tipping we wouldn’t have to ‘rely’ on AFL funding.

No but the grass is always greener on the other side. If we were big money earners in our own right then we'd be discontented because we'd be tithed to support those who still relied on AFL funding.

At this point the moment Carlton wins a final will be like VE- Day for the Vic media.
Full on campaign to wear their home strip if they play away to Port. Ha.
Long may they fail so we can avoid such nausea inducing coverage.
