It's a good question.

And why the feck are there so many of them? Do we really need ground reporters, special comments commentators etc.? It's like the AFL and Seven are a friggin superannuation scheme for retired players.

The US networks get by with just TWO main commentators on NFL games. And so the networks make sure they get the two very best to maximise their viewing audience.

Also the NFL gives SEVEN networks a bite of NFL games to maximise quality and innovation in TV coverage and reduce complacency.

Imagine...
During the pandemic in 2020 and most of 2021, Seven West Media which is 7 Network plus other media assets, had a market cap of less than what they were paying for the annual AFL rights figure. It highlighted their deep cut back, low bar attitude, which has stuck around post pandemic and their market cap has recovered, tripling since 2021. Their footy output has not tripled.

Realistically, we just beat a s**t team that everyone thought would be good
Brisbane shyt away have been for sometime but up at the Gabba very different story.
Will make the 8 on home wins and away wins against the weak clubs but no way premiership winners like some posted on Port BF.
The way the comp is set up it’s going to take a very very good interstate team to get over a Vic side.

This decade it's equal number 1 venue for most grand finals played
