WEST Coast coach Adam Simpson has conceded the Eagles could lose up to seven players from the team that lost to Fremantle in Western Derby 56, with small forward Jamie Cripps hospitalised on Sunday night with a broken ankle.
Star defender Jeremy McGovern suffered a hamstring injury that Simpson said was serious, while captain Luke Shuey was substituted out with what also appeared to be a hamstring injury, with the coach unsure of the midfielder's status.
Defender Alex Witherden will need to be assessed after a head knock in a collision with Fremantle midfielder Jaeger O'Meara, having run with the flight of the ball into the contest and taken heavy contact.
Premiership forward Liam Ryan played on with his left knee strapped after crashing to the Optus Stadium turf having flown for a mark, with the Eagles left with 18 fit players when his night eventually ended.

Port on twitter have a gold tick, which costs $1000 a month.

This might be a radical idea, but there could be better uses of $12k a year.

Like paying off our debt, or dedicating a park bench.
I'd strongly prefer they use it to sack hinkley.

Wonder what David King thinks of this seeing as he likes to forensically examine specific incidents in matches

How is that not even a free kick

I was just going to say the same thing. Dermie with the "if he stays down then, that's a free kick". Since when is that a rule?

What was the knock on Dougal the defender in his time here, wasn't it that he punched the ball too much when he could be marking it?

Ironic coming from a coaching group that includes Nathan Bassett.

Especially when Jonas seems to play with his hands glued in to fists.

Thats what they inferred but they didnt want to match the Saints contract offer.

Match the saints offer? He was contracted? We didn’t need to match their offer.

I called us gutless for that trade at the time and In hindsight it looks even worse.

We handed them a near decade long starting chb that they were chasing, and their starting ruckman for pick 18, but had to downgrade our pick 10 to 12 for the trouble.

Our position should always have been that pick 12 for a contracted chb. Worst case we kept him.

Had we done that we would have had our choice of 2 of pickett, day and Bergman plus Georgiades.

Swapping Dylan Williams for one of pickett or day would make that an all time great draft and our side would look great with one of pickett or day in the side.

Arguably would we have been sucked into the Fantasia trade so hard had we already had pickett in the side? Maybe? Maybe not?

Gather Round entertainment

The AFL revealed headline acts The Veronicas and Peking Duk for the upcoming Gather Round, which takes place April 13-16 (round 5).
Peking Duk will kick of the inaugural weekend with a pre-match performance before the Adelaide and Carlton game on Thursday (April 13), while The Veronicas will take the stage on the Saturday (April 15) before Port Adelaide-Western Bulldogs clash.

Both bands acknowledged the privilege they had in performing in the AFL's first Gather Round, where all 18 teams play football in one city in a festival of our great game.
“We are so excited to be celebrating and bringing music to such an iconic sporting event. We can’t wait to hit the field with you all," The Veronicas said.
Peking Duk will be joined on stage by special guests Ben Woolner and Julia Stone (Australian folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist).
DJs Yo! Mafia, Emma Peters, Matt Sammut, Jesse, Louis F and Marc B will also be performing across the weekend at all three venues (Adelaide Oval, Norwood Oval and Mt Barker Oval - Adelaide Hills).

AFL Executive General Manager Customer and Commercial Kylie Rogers said it was exciting to have a host of great Australian artists part of the first-ever AFL Gather Round celebrations. “The AFL is proud to have an incredible line up of award-winning artists in The Veronicas and Peking Duk along with six of the best Aussie DJs entertain fans as part of our Gather Round celebrations,” Ms Rogers said. “Not only do we have a host of amazing matches for fans to get excited about, but we have heaps of FREE family friendly activities that fans of all ages can enjoy, so we hope to see as many people there to soak up all the atmosphere.”

We were set on him being a forward, and Dougal wanted to play defence.

I'm not sure why we didn't want to persevere with him in defence, but it still baffles me. I don't think he's a brilliant defender, but he was/is of similar calibre to Clurey but much taller and quicker.

Port Adelaide will beat sydney just so Ken hinkley gets another life. This year we will lose to all the sh*t teams and beat all the good teams. Barely scrape finals, just so Ken Hinkley doesn't get the sac. He will continue to coach in 2024. Just so us fans have to suffer for another year.
