so every time there is an umpire error or mistake in a close game - will there be compensation to the ‘victim’?

So it's the Grand Final and the siren has just gone with scores level. Todd Marshall has a kick on goal from 50 metres out with a chance to win the game and the Premiership for Port hie kicks truly but a gust of wind drifts the ball into the goal post and it bounces back into play.

The game is over with no score recorded - the match is drawn.

And yet if Todd misses by say 2m he gets a point and we win the flag.

Makes zero sense.

Carn, not only was Todd offside when he took the mark but the pass to him was clearly forward.

If the other clubs got a whiff of an easier fixture for the Crows because of an incorrect umpires call, there would be a riot at AFL house.

Rest assured if the crows lose a game because the ball bounces the wrong way they'll be calling for a round ball to be introduced.

The real culprit hasn't yet been called out. John Longmire, who had his team playing magnificent hard running direct football until Papley got injured and then he went defensive and tried to defend the lead. If he continued to attack the goal umpire mistake would have been a non issue. This is exactly what Ken Hinkley has done for years when we have lead in the last quarter - go to the defensive game plan and try and defend the lead but if we keep attacking, and that is why we were leading, and kick just 1 more goal we win, but how many times did we lose due to Hinkley's changed game plan.

All other teams would say the same, draft picks too, there would be a riot for any teams affected by Crows getting special dispensations.

It’s just ridiculous, they are such a self entitled club that they are getting totally carried away.
Why should other clubs be compromised so they can feel better.

The odds are that they would have won that Sydney game without the umpire mistake, but it wasn’t a certainty with another centre clearance and game time left, and anyway, do we all get to demand reparations from now on from umpire mistakes/ errors?

I feel a bit concerned for the ump’s mental health now, living in this pissant Crom dominated State.

The Jenkins poster was reviewed for less than the bare minimum diligence. I remember the broadcast showing it from more angles after the game and it definitely hit the post. The angle showed live from the ARC was the least convincing of the lot.
