Didn't that happen about 10 times last year? Crows get dominated for 3 quarters - the other mob put the cue in the rack too early, and the camrys get back into the game but fall short. Teams need to learn to keep the foot on their throat

I’ve found only three:
R17, v ESS
R19, v MEL
R22, v BRI

FOUR (as HINKLEY OUT pointed out below):
R23, v SYD

But they all happened late in the season. It’s tricky for the memory.

9 disposals, 2 marks and didn't trouble the scorers. And he was the big forward target.
Not really the night for the big forwards. Ben King was similar and didn't give the much, certainly tough in those tropical conditions for the big men.

I don't think any of there big men had impacts on the game. Burgess was similar, Gollant was subbed off. The gold coast boys didn't either so far being far wasn't conditions for them.

I've been saying it for a while, but happy to finally call it, these continual Crows comebacks are lipstick on a Pig.

They occur because the game is over and the opposition gets comfortable, knows they've got it won and relaxes. The Crows keep coming, take advantage of that lull but still never actually get there because at the end of the day they aren't good enough.

They really flatter themselves with these finishes. Opposition teams need to wake up to it and play till the end.

Edit: as NoddyHolder said...

Darren Burgess. They are fit, not enough midfield talent

I wonder how much the game last week helped or hindered how the Suns played?

Extra match under their belts, but less recovery time.
Suns dominated majority of the match and the crows hit back with 3 chaos ball special goals by Rachele/Rankine. The game was decided by midfield talent, the last quarter comeback was flattering for the crows because they were terrible

Massive boost and I'd be furious if we were playing a side that already had an official game under their belts

Fully expect Brisbane and Melbourne will also benefit today from it.

Only 11k last night for their 2nd game of the season after a strong "opening round" win. How is this viable after nearly 15 years? What's the ultimate goal here with the Suns? Are we expecting the crowd numbers to rise? Or are they content with 10-15K at every game and surely bleeding money every season they exist? Where is it going from here?

I couldn't care less, I'm just curious what the target is for the AFL. Do they purely exist for TV revenue? How long until we can expect an increase in support?
Genuinely curious as someone that didn't live through that time, what were Brisbane like when they first entered the comp as the Bears? Similar to the GC situation now?

Gotra consider the possibility that Gold Coast might be good now.

I know sometimes it dont be like that but it might do this time

I'm still bamboozled by the fact that a team called the SUNS played and won a game at night. This doesn't make any sense to me.

Sam from Osborne is a f****** legend

I haven't been a 5doublecrow listener for at least 15 years, but after hearing some of that I can understand why a relative from Victoria who comes to SA 4 or 5 times a year on business is of the opinion too many callers to that station sound like they are on day release from a sheltered workshop.

Granted but King is a 200cm beanpole coming off an interrupted pre-season.

Fogarty is a size that should suit those conditions, not too tall, strong through the hips and thighs, low centre of gravity and this was his chance to step up as the heir apparent to Walker. Apart from throwing his weight around a couple of times he was virtually unsighted.

Burgess and Gollant are sanfl players.

Afl would be focused on development of the game. If numbers of junior players in queensland continue to grow they'll be happy. They want 2 teams so there's a game in queensland every week of the season so there's regular attention in the media. Their crowd numbers are probably comparable to soccer and rugby league games outside of Brisbane.

When Brisbane entered the comp they played on the gold coast - same venue as the Suns I think - although now much better developed. They were considered a joke and their crowds were shit. They didn't really turn it around until they 'merged' with fitzroy and became the lions.
