ADELAIDE ruck Kieran Strachan has been ruled out of the start of the 2025 season after undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot. Strachan had reported soreness in his right foot after running, and scans last week showed he had suffered a stress fracture in the navicular bone.
He is expected to start running again in 10 weeks and won't be fit to play for at least four months.

The Murdoch Empire sale of the the Foxtel business in Australia is now a near certainty now with the streaming platform DAZN, a sports streaming business backed by British-Ukrainian billionaire Len Blavatnik, likely to be confirmed as the new owner in coming months.

Of particular relevance to the Big Footy community this would take the company that broadcasts the AFL and the NRL (and the major broadcast partner and funder of the AFL) into foreign ownership potentially turning the future of AFL broadcasting (and hence the sport itself) on its head once the current rights deal expires (or maybe even before).

It comes on the back of Rupert's failure (for now at least) to hand over the running of his empire to his favoured son, Lachlan.

DAZN app is as bad as the KAYO App.

Maybe a little worse.

Yay.

Crazy that they haven't touched their ruck division for about 6+ years. Sticking with the same 2 guys that are the same age and not developing anyone else.

I don't know how Coopers and the crows pulled this off at AO but obviously Lion Nathan didn't have a watertight all areas pourage rights deal with the SMA. Or the contract ended and the SMA changed the terms for the new deal.

The Bunker is what the crows brand that bar and entertainment area between the two SA clubs' changerooms, on their match day, and officially is called the John Cahill and Andrew McLeod Room.

I'm a little jealous some of their fans get to buy a Coopers at AO - not many, but some is better than none.

Coopers Brewery has joined forces with the Adelaide Football Club under an historic three-year partnership.

Coopers has signed on as naming rights partner of The Bunker at Adelaide Oval, where Crows fans can sip on a Coopers beer while looking into the Crows’ changerooms and warm-up area. And whilst you sadly cannot get a Coopers at every bar across the stadium we are as excited as we hope you are by this new drinking opportunity at the footy.

And our most loved products will also be poured in corporate match day areas as well as at club events. We will also be partnering with the Crows during the transition to the Club’s new headquarters at Thebarton.

If you go in the Village Green at the Cricket, you can get different beers, like Heineken and Stone & Wood, but they won't let you leave the Village Green with the Can, you have to pour it into a cup, because of the different Sponsorship arrangement.

mmm I think it's one position you sort of can do it with since rucks are always available at trade time.

Remember those AFL, I'd Like To See That ads in the mid to late 1990's advertising the big hits and the no padding or helmets stuff, they tried to push in the US and other markets?? That style of AFL marketing continued into this century pushing the physical side of the game.

Then concussion became a big issue and the AFL fears promoting the physical side of the game.

No problems for the NRL. They have put together this ad for the US market and people to buy tickets in USA to their 2025 Season Opening games in Las Vegas, with ex NFL 4 time super bowl winner The Gronk, Rob Gronkowski, pushing the physicality, big hits, no padding, no time outs for the 4 game season opening round there in early March.

Like it or not, the last gladiator sport

Its looking that way, although both Union and Gridiron would argue they are still gladiatorial sports.
