With pre season training starting today, I think it's time to start moving away from Kurt Tippett and looking towards next year.

Brenton Sanderson, who in his first year in charge at Adelaide took the club to within a kick of the grand final, has already put the acid on nine players he expects to take the next step in their development next season.

They include defenders Andy Otten and Luke Thompson, midfielders Luke Brown, Brodie Martin, Jarryd Lyons, Sam Kerridge and Aidan Riley and tall utilities Tom Lynch and Lewis Johnston.

"They should be looking to break into the side more than they did this year, which shows the depth we've got," Sanderson said.

So if you wish to add any training reports, photos, stories, injuries, tweets or just gossip from the pre season into this thread would be fantastic. I will be hoping to get out to a few training seasons after mid December and late January when I get back from my overseas yearly venture.

So over to you. Let look out for the players in bold and see if they can step up and fill a void left by Voldamort.

Opinion pieces are fine, as long as we don't get reports stating that the 105th pick in this years draft is looking like a gun who will win a Brownlow and club champion award in the same season but being realistic will spend the season in the SANFL reserves.

Someone posting unrealistic expectations on players shits me to tears. So we can have a very nice, friendly pre-season threat or we can have a massive argument. It's up to you.

So you don't have an opinion on whether Crouch has all the attriubtes to become a gun player for the AFC?

That's the point I'm making. At the moment, he's played a total of zero AFL games.He has all the potential in thw world to be a very good player but at the present had shown very little. His SANFL season was very good but that isn't really much. He still has a lot of work to do.

Let him play a few AFL games before some people start to proclaim him to be the next big thing and then if he doesn't live up to your (this board) lofty expectations shoot him down as if he's let you down.

one example is Adam Saliba, he could have been anything but his AFL career didn't amount to anything, Johnathon Ross was another very good underage player who didn't go on with it and then you have Richard Douglas, John Meesen and even Nathan Van Berlo who were talked up as superstar player. Please go and read some of the comment attributed to them in there first season or 2 at the club and then compere them to the comment from his last season or 2 and see how different they are. The amount of vile crap posted about some oif the players who fail to live up the high expectations placed upon them by posters is very disappointing.

Therefore, let some of the younger kids have a moment where they don't get the vile written about them because they haven't won a Brownlow in their first 50 games.

Yes Alex. TBH I'm shit stirring a bit while I wait for my son to wake up before heading on down to Wiggly Worms.

If I have it correct, you don't want over the top predictions about young players to avoid any uneccessary pressure on them to perform and to hopefully avoid the vitriol directed at them when they don't live up to posters lofty expectations.



BTW, Crouch will win the Brownlow.

Just maybe not in 2013...Got Danger down for that.

Im hoping that LJ does enough to demand selection as a pure forward and sits down there along with Tex and Smack/JJ.

Alex, he makes a good point. You are giving your opinion on a player, which some may or may not agree with. But you don't want others to give their opinions "if they are going to call him a gun and he'll be better than Carey". So in other words, you can have an opinion, as long as it agree with yours.

How have I given my opinion on a player? I said Adam Saliba and Jonathon Ross who were very good underage players 20 years ago but amounted to nothing due to work rater and attitude. This is fact, nothing about opinion.

And then you have Douglas, Van Berlo (not STO mind you) and Meeson (amount others) who were glorified as the next big thing very early in their time at the AFC but now get crap for being duds and demand that they get dropped over week. Please don't tell me this doesn't happen.

Now we Luke Brown being over hyped but only played 3 or 4 games and Rory Laird who some are suggesting could be a top 25 pick in the national AFL draft, yet wasn't upgraded. It's the unrealistic expectations on players that annoy me.

As long as the average punter is allowed to post there uneducated crap, nothing will change. The posting paradigm needs to change on this board before any shit fights will stop.
