OK I have a negative post about Rachele .....just need to prove to Scorpus that you can always lower the bar further

What's with his shorts ....why are they longer than every other players shorts .....it's almost like he's wearing boardies

Maybe he just has really short thighs

Maybe he's "longer" in other departments too...

What did they call another bloke of Italian hertage Sylvester Stallone again? The Italian ........
You mean he could do Stringer's nickname more justice...

Looking in top Nick good on him
Flatmates Rachele & Soligo appear to be very motivated to do everything in their powers to get the best out of themselves.

I think Nankervis is also living with them, which would only be a good influence on his development too.

having heard a recent interview from Nank I think that may be the case

Perhaps next season they could offer to take young Oliver under their wings to teach him some life skills... ;)

I wouldnt go that far..

i’d use the “hears footsteps” more in terms of the lad being too concerned with the players around him instead of simply worrying solely about the bloody football.

Not so much in terms of being a coward.

That's really not how it's used though. It's used for people who are worried about hits that aren't coming. It's a comment on the players preparedness to get hit, or lack thereof.

I will say, I would’ve liked to have seen more fwd line presence from him by now. Logan McDonald performed quite a bit better purely inside F50 last season (though RT showed more talent up the ground)

This PS is super important for him, needs to be dominating by at least 2025 to live up to his pure talent level
Part of him kicking more goals and dominating more would need to come from the mids/half forward types to also give him opportunities. Some players are massively Tex-centric to the point they'll ignore Riley (and others) to direct the ball at Tex, even if there are better options available.

So is “spent it before he had it” another way of saying a player is a “coward” then?…

It could be assumed that it means the player was too worried about the impending contact from an opponent(s) thats about to come from behind him.. so panicked.

Is that cowardly?

Maybe it could be classed as cowardly… or maybe its just simply a player being under pressure..

Can't believe people are trying to defend "hears footsteps", it was a s**t comment.
But terms like “hearing footsteps” or “spent it before he had it” dont have meanings that are set in stone though.. not sure you’d find them in a dictionary or glossary.

Everyone is going to have slightly differing opinions/variations on exactly what they refer to and mean when being used..

Nah mate not even close. ‘Spent before he had it’ has always meant a player has tried to dispose of the ball before having control of it. You don’t need to be under any sort of pressure for this to happen.
I’ve never known ‘ hearing footsteps’ to mean anything else than a player being worried about someone behind them and the physical contact that may eventuate. Cowardice may be a bit strong but scared or fearful definitely.

Stunningly different idioms have different meanings.

There is absolutely no need for me to argue with you about the long established and entirely uncontroversial meaning of hearing footsteps. It's not open for argument. If you didn't know what it meant when you endorsed it, now you do.

Call it what you like he definitely needs more aggression in his game and to hit packs harder more consistently than he does up to now...essentially use his big strong physique more to his and the team's advantage.
He does but that generally comes with maturity , age and confidence as a 200cm bloke

Not really worried by him at all as he’s got apparent enormous drive to improve himself

He’s going to be so massive for us when he comes off , will be our most dominant player

He is well on his way to being A Grade .
Been super consistent when playing the last 2 seasons and improving in nice increments.

Might well push for AA squad from 2025 onwards .
Anybody agree with me that he can play key defence yet ?

Not pigeon holed as a 3rd tall intercept player in my book , he has height and getting strength to start to play on the 2nd tall forward

As I’ve said before if Trent McKenzie has done it ok ( pre this year ) then Woz will be much better at being a key defender

Of course he could play as 3rd tall intercept as well , we know that

I’m really excited about our defence , it’s going to be just as exciting as our forward line going forward , there is youth , intercept marking , run and carry and sublime kicking skills . It’s a really modern attacking backline in the making
