She was boxing professionally, out of season ....maybe Thilthorpe could also box "out of season"

I assume the Clubs assume control once PS starts ...or would it be Nov 1st, when the new Contract Period starts ?
Pretty sure they only banned the sparring

Makes no sense why they ban any of the other stuff

THRILLTHORPE

This looms as the most important pre-season of Riley Thilthorpe’s young career so far.

And, while it is early days, it looks like the former No. 2 pick is rising to the challenge.

The 21-year-old looked in ripping shape at West Lakes on Monday and moved extremely well on day one of pre-season.

He ended the 2023 campaign out of form and Burgess said the Crows had changed how the 202cm forward/ruck had approached his off-season.

Thilthorpe himself looked to be thrilled with how he was travelling, with a nice snap for a goal celebrated passionately.

“He looks like he has taken his off-season to another level Riley, he has done a few different things this off-season and I think they are going to pay off for him,” Burgess said.

“Normally what Riley does he just goes and runs, and runs, and runs because that is his weapon but we have just shortened it up a little bit and thrown in a bit of boxing and some other things.

“Riley knows that his ticket to where we all want him to go to is through hard work and truly there is nobody that works harder than him.

“So I’m really confident he will attack the pre-season really well.”
It's going to be extra disappointing when we select Himmelberg over Thilthorpe in Round 1 again

38 out of 41 ran a PB. Murray Schoenberg and Himmelberg are on injury list. That leaves 39. Who were the other 2?

Its probably Tex, Sloane and Smith. None of them need to prove anything by beating times. They probably just cruised.
Burgo said in the livestream they had 4 x 1km runs planned

After the first 1km trial he told the group if they ran PB's they'd only have to do the 2

I doubt they cruised, more likely they just aren't capable of posting PB's anymore

To be fair to those guys, Tex and Sloane in particular, I don't think it's all that realistic to be expecting guys in their mid-30's to be running PB's. There is a limit to how fast any individual is ever going to be able to run, and you'd expect them to hit it before that age. These guys are past their physical peak.

Saw on the news last night that Port started preseason yesterday, too. This despite them playing 2 finals, so their season went 3 weeks longer than ours. Aren't they supposed to start preseason 3 weeks later? Or has the new CBA basically set the same start date for everyone no matter when their season finished?

The norm now seems to be that the players take around 2 weeks off post season. They're given training programs to follow up until the formal pre-season commences.

And while many take holidays during this period, they're still expected to train.

So yes, there would still be a 3 week gap.

Above all else, I genuinely hope we practice/address our goal kicking issues in 2023.

We kicked the third most behinds last year, only the Lions and Port kicked more. Port had the most in 2023.

I obviously dont know the detail of how many were rushed, assuming here that its an even spread for all teams.

By memory though, we were a decently accurate team by expected goals average. Just had fits of going ice cold + we took on a lot of difficult shots.

So it's probably just a tick of refinement to generate more easy shots and some extra fitness.

Is there a 2024 injury thread up yet? I've kinda lost track..... who is on the long term injury list? Is it just Murray and Shoey? Or are there more who will not get a full pre-season?
