The problem for the Coalition is that because they've put so much time, money and energy into their law-and-order policy for the best part of two years (ever since the 2016 Moomba riots), everything else like health, the economy (especially if we're hit with GFC (Global Financial Crisis) Mk 2), and industrial relations is treated as irrelevant or not of great importance to the Coalition election strategists and planners.

But it carries no weight when the Leader of the Party is associated with the Mafia.
The punters can see right through it

That is essentially the problem, they have chosen to focus on one issue above all else and as much the community likes to feel safe, a sense of safety goes beyond crime to include economic well being and a sense that they can access services and other infrastructure.

THE AGE

Not sure what we had 100 years ago? are you referring to the outer orbital rail-line because that wasn't anything like what has been purposed?

Yes I am. It was immensely better than what's been proposed. There was a rail line to Healesville, Warburton, Leongatha and even Mornington.

I don't understand how a line whose stops are further out than where people live is better.

Why has there been so little polling this election? In the last 2 weeks there has been 2 polls. By comparison, 20 days out from the 2014 election there was 8 polls.

care factor or saving the coin for the upcoming fed?

If there's one thing I'd like to see on election night, it's the TV networks (ie ABC, Sky News) and the Victorian Electoral Commission bring back the tally room like they used to do in the early years of TV election night coverages, where in the federal election they would broadcast live from the National Tally Room in Canberra and all of the seats Australia-wide would be put up on a big manual 'scoreboard'.

Good question, why doesn't Murdoch want you to know what the electorate are thinking?

Do you think if the Libs were polling a mile in front of Labor, there would be daily updates?

They really haven’t stepped up as much as you thought they might, maybe they know it’s over. There’s probably enough postal votes in already

‘The mood changed so my policy changed’

Tells you all you need to know about Guy
It's the same at federal level, Morrison just makes shit up depending on where he is and what he thinks people want to hear, in gay old Wentworth it was all about removing religious exemptions but we ain't hearing jack about this anymore. It's terrible politics and even worse for the country, I though Abbott was a nadir for politics in this country, but this fat w***er makes him looking positively statesman like.

The planning rule – known as C270 – was put in place by the Andrews Government in 2016, requiring developers to meet certain conditions on height, setback, building separations and plot ratios.

Developers are allowed to exceed density limits but only if they offset their development with a public benefit of some sort, such as outdoor open space.

THE AGE

Blatant fake news by The Age.

Labor planning Minister Richard Wynne amended the proposed C270 amendment in favour of developers. The original mechanism whereby developers could build extra floors in tower blocks (floor area uplift - FAU) in return for 'community benefit' eg libraries, aquatic centres, art galleries, performance spaces, meeting rooms, kindergartens, social housing, open space, etc was replaced by a scheme allowing 'public benefit' with the list of benefits including the provision of commercial office space.

Up until Feb 2018 over 54,000 sqm of commercial floor area had been awarded to applicants under FAU mechanisms with zero floor uplift awarded under any of the defined community benefit categories.

You can't blame this one on Murdoch. The two polls we do have are from Newspoll and Yougov (Galaxy) which are published in Newscorp publications.

Last election cycle there was polls published by 6 polling agencies during the election campaign (Newspoll, Galaxy, ReachTel, Roy Morgan, Ipsos and Essential).

Antony would not be amused with this.

Also, Labor bypasses its own planning rules on a whim (or probably back handers). They approved a 323-metre tower that did not meet the new rules because 'it was designed several years ago when planning envelopes were not defined' and the government deemed it State Significant’.

https://www.architectureanddesign.com.au/news/australia-s-tallest-tower-approved-in-melbourne-a#
The tower was also considered ‘State Significant’ by the government, meaning it was exempt from the normal planning approval process. It was not assessed by the Office of Victoria Government Architect (OVGA) design review, nor was it put to public consultation, but that’s not to say the project was exempt from scrutiny and consultation.

Willkinson Eyre’s tower was the winner of an international design competition announced in 2015, and was selected by a panel which included expert architects. Its public realm design and human scale experience also received project guidance from the OVGA in the ensuing years.

What's the big deal? Guy has some approvals/skeletons in his cupboard when he was planning Minister that are more than questionable.

So it's ok for Labor do break it's own guidelines because the Libs were dodgy?

The Labor government also created Infrastructure Victoria 'to take the politics out of infrastructure'. Come election time they unveil a $50-billion rail loop project that was not in the Infrastructure Victoria plan.

Glad that you see that Guy was/is dodgy.

Did they break their own rules? Seems to me that it had been through a lengthy process already and have made one allowance unlike dodgy Guy numerous dodgy deals. Isn't that what choosing a government/Premier should be all about?

I don't jump to a conclusion based on one incident. You should try it.
