Could be repeat of 2011 losing to Cats three times if we win tomorrow and lose next week.

But hey, imagine the smile on our faces we beat them after last year’s rabble. I won’t hold back being Smug either.
Would rather us not make it if we are just going to get knocked out next week. Experienced enough gf heart breaks, don't want any more. If we do make it next week I hope we get payback from that 2011 loss

I hope the Pies supporters rock the SCG tomorrow. The Swans supporters were pretty quiet in round 22. I was carrying on like a one eyed pies supporter and they didn't like it 😂 it's alien to them.
I went in 2019, and they were grumpy forty year old men and geriatrics, who got a weekend release from the retirement home. Of course, they were frustrated with my vocal support, and some old biddy turned around at the end and said "I hope you don't come back ever again". They treat it like a rock concert at the start, then want it to be a library. The swans fans are ALL like this. NFI 🥴

I'm with domus on this one. It's like an addiction, and the anxiety absolutely destroys you. I for one, never used to think twice about watching a whole game, I was in the thick of it for years as a supervisor at the MCG. But COVID and 2021 did strange things. It's almost like it became too much, and now I feel almost sick to have to watch it live, thinking they will lose, and it'll be the worst thing in the world.

It's easy to sit back in comfort of score updates, and watch it later once the result is won. I was "forced" to watch the last quarter of the QF against the pivotonians, and it was definitely a self fulfilling prophecy.

Doesn't stop me from venturing on here and gaining strength from people's confidence, or being immersed in the thought of football, and possible glory next week 😎
Hmmm, yep, winning just to get to “normal” for me. Losing, well….

Not sure I want to play Geelong in the GF, it won't be easy beating them
I’d like another go at them. Reckon we were good enough both times already this year, just not quite there. A Milne bounce in either of those games sends the result our way.

I think either us or the Swans are well positioned to beat the Cats should the winner of our game go in without injuries.

Whoever wins tomorrow I hope wins the following week, hopefully us

It's amazing you start living for the W every weekend, and it becomes a chore, but as soon as you sense the threat of an L, it's like the world spins off its axis. This is what I am talking about. Literal trepidation about losing. It's not just a game, but then you know it is, but how else can you rationalise the irrational? Absolute poetry sometimes. Footy just makes life better. The only game in the world.

Speaking of taking the piss, I'm rewatching the last quarter against Carlton R23. Wish me luck 💪

Fly's pre-game speech: Cream rises to the top!

Which Ex-Collingwood player or club affiliate going to talk to the boys this week?

Perhaps Peter Moore? He’s up there too.

I like the addition of past players/club associates talking pre-game this year.

Yep I’m with you. I’m highly rational in all things, except footy… I have to say, I’ve been better this year though. But I’ve not matured! Nuts to that!

I’ve not been able to go to any games (well, Freo on Saturday was my first for the year). So a combination of watching on Kayo and/or recognizing that we are “on the rise” has helped. Winning games before the expectation on the club kicks in is the best time to support a club.

We’ve raced through most of that “on the rise phase” so quickly this year. The trick for me is to stay in the light of hope, and to stay out of that murky twilight of expectation.

I’m not nervous for this game, so I’m thinking I’m still in the hope phase. But I’ve been starting to believe we can beat the remaining teams.

Fingers crossed, lucky jocks, and about 10 other idiosyncrasies at the ready to get us over the line.

Carn the Pies!

If you pop over into the 'Other Finals' thread, you might find some Collingwood supporters wishing injury and other types of mayhem upon Geelong players.

I'm not sure we can get too sanctimonious in relation to a joke about a non-serious accident.
Link?

Alan Didak.
I think he epitomises the player who achieved at the highest level but had enormous fun doing it, especially on the field.

Shocked at the trepidation of some supporters leading into this game. We look bloody good and should be confident we can match it with Sydney at the SCG and win this game. Geriatric Geelong are pretenders, they were lucky to beat us in round 3 and in the qualifying final. We are in this.

Geelong tonight have just franked the form out of our qualifying final. That qualifying final was the game of the season. An epic final where neither team let up, and geel were lucky enough to have their nose in front when the final siren sounded. Pies then competent annihilated freo in the semi, with the game Over at quarter time effectively.

Swans had a very good win against the dees, don’t get me wrong. But that game was hardly in the class of geel v coll. The dees have been in trouble for a while, which was emphatically proved a week later when the lions got the better of them.

Pies are going the best they have all year and are in todays game Up to their eyeballs. Hard to fathom how the swans are such hot favourites

We’ve been walking a thrilling tightrope all season, without a safety net. We’ve almost made it to the other side, so let’s not stop now. Screw those jagged rocks below!

How about someone unfashionable, who people wrote-off and thought wasn’t it up to it but defied the critics and tenaciously climbed all the way to the summit. Someone like Leigh Brown.

Or for completely different reasons, Leigh Matthews, to reboot his immortal Predator speech originally used against us, that Fly and Leppa would remember so well……”if it bleeds, we can kill it.”

The Pies will beat the Cats next week. They have only scraped through against us on both occasions and a little luck and we would have beaten them. We have the game that really troubles them. They are still slow, but have tough bodies. We are up and about. The enthusiasm and confidence this team plays with will over power them in the GF (assuming we get over the Swans).
