Might be wrong, but I think he might get rubbed out.

The politics around concussion has intensified in the past few years, and I think Maynard might be made an example of by the AFL.

The whole incident left a sour taste in my mouth. No winners came out of it.
The afl needs to crack down on “non football” acts resulting in concussion

There’s a big difference between “non football acts” and Maynard’s IMO.

Just because a player is concussed doesn’t mean someone should be reported. Common sense still needs to be applied. Maynard’s is no different than someone being accidentally concussed in a marking contest

Need to tidy up these areas if we're any chance come PF, luckily for us the dees got the yips in front of the sticks.

i50 differential of -32 usually equates to an absolute belting.

We can't play like that again and expect to win.

Cue in the personal attacks coz these have been mentioned.

Praying like hell we turn it around.
Sorry bud but stats dont mean shit in finals and never have. You either win or you lose. And we won. Soak it in.

They might be in a bit of trouble without Brayshaw next week, and potentially Van Rooyen
If i had a lot of money, i would put all of it on VR missing at least a week. That was as clear a match-missing act as you're ever likely to see. And Brayshaw will miss at least 1 for concussion protocols.

Darcy Moore and Isaac Quaynor were brave, clever, hard and brilliant. Their work tonight helped set us up in this final series. And we can, and will, play much better than that. How different is September.😍

Will it be referred straight to the tribunal I wonder?
If so, they'll argue Maynard turned his shoulder into Brayshaw, but they won't be able to prove whether it was intentional beyond any doubt for a suspension IMO.

At least it gives the AFL journos something to report on mid-week.

I will always lament JFN being omitted.
But WHE can play anywhere and I wasn't suggesting he should have been omitted for JFN. That's an erroneous assumption you've jumped to. There were other options you know🙄

There were other options but the selectors opted for WHE in defence instead of JFN. They got it right. Our defence was mighty tonight so I’m just not seeing how Noble would have improved that. Happy for you to think otherwise.

In the eye of the beholder I guess.
Given Melbs dominance in inside 50's and territory I'd say our mids were soundly beaten as a unit. So I find it hard to rate Pendles defensive mid game.

If Melb had a half decent forward line we lose that game comfortably
If you Aunty had balls she’d be your uncle.

We just made a prelim after finishing minor premiers. Perhaps you are the one with head in the sand. No team is perfect. Melb weakness is scoring, ours is defence

We won, they lost. We should have been 5 goals further in front after dominating, then Melb dominated the last quarter. So?

We get Nick daicos back in a prelim.

Fmd.

Minor premiers into a prelim. Just enjoy it ffs!!

I mean, lots of inside 50s for no scoring is Melbourne’s MO for a long time now and yet we’ve had the wood on them for approaching a decade now

Don’t think it’s as much of a concern as you might think

VR gone. I liked how they kept saying that he got him with the shoulder, even after replaying it over and over again. He raised his elbow and cracked him in the jaw with it

You said “if they had a half-decent forward line”, well it’s one of those “if my grandma had wheels she’d be a trolley” scenarios, isn’t it? Melbourne poured their resources into the ruck.

Look at Collingwood tonight, Cameron was poor but kicked a goal when the opposition had 2 opponents on Cox letting Cameron mark.

Mitchell and Adams dominated the contested possessions

McStay and Mihocek were a handful up forward and kicked 3 goals between and set up plenty of others.

Hill and Elliott ran them ragged and not for unusual poor kicking from set shots, could have kicked 4 between them.

Those 4 partnerships all possible because we no longer have all our eggs in one basket.

How was the cheer when Ginni was finally unleashed.

Geez that what a tough gutsy win. Melbourne are genuinely good competition. Our defence stood up.

Steele was back to his pre injury form.
Will Hoskin-Elliot showed us why poor Johnny Noble was pushed out.

To spin a negative into a positive, Josh and De Goey can both play a lot better than they did tonight. And we have Nick to come in. Surely he’s good to go for the prelim.

We love our Bruzzy. Massive cheers of support for him every time he got the ball. He meant no harm to Brayshaw. SHOULD get off. Anyone’s guess what they do with it but we need to challenge all the way through the system if need be.

Interesting how Dreamon moderator issued me with a warning when I said on their thread that Maynard simply attempted a smother while Van Rooyen should be suspended for his deliberate elbow to the jaw of McStay.
100% correct that was a deadset elbow with far more intent to hurt another player,he should get weeks for that.

Mate I don,t know why uou want to go over there anyway, they are probably complaining about how they blew it and what a thug that Maynard is,stuff them.
