A lot of talk over the last few weeks about what would happen if our defending didn't improve. Not enough about the more likely scenario of it returning and whether Melbourne's scoring troubles would be an issue. That's exactly what happened.

Feel like we were a fair bit better and should have done this a bit easier. A little disappointing we couldn't get more of the ball forward. But a great win, especially given the likely outcomes. Gives Nick an extra week to get right and we are now right in this with a big chance.

Honestly thought we did well to nullify Gawn's ruck influence all night. At least they weren't walking the ball out of centre, even if Gawn did get on top around the ground.

All I can say is thank god for our backline. Really stood up time and time again especially in the last 40 minutes of the game where our midfield had its pants pulled all the way down by Gawn, Petracca and Oliver.

I'd expect the Didaka to be mostly backline + Bobby Hill tonight.

Good base to to build on, a few of our big names were absolutely shithouse tonight so let's hope that puts a bit of fire in their bellies for the prelim and beyond.

Melbourne is the true obstacle to Collingwood... Brisbane is to be confirmed in the MCG.. but Melbourne trashed the Pies in that quarter BIG TIME and it was Pies defenders that saved the day.

Super first quarter. Good second quarter. Mediocre second half.

But did enough to win. We're good enough and we will almost certainly make the GF! Almost.

Brilliant: Hill, Crisp, Adams, most of the defenders including WHE (good call coaches).

Worries: rucks against Gawn, Lipinski, DeGoey (hurt?), McReery, Elliot, Daicos. They will be better -- a lot of them will. But still some issues.

But totally should be happy. We might still face Melbourne in the GF, but probably Brisbane.
