KAP is going to be the Crisafulli Government's proxy for introducing unpopular hard right legislation after the election which Government MP's will then be offered a "conscience" vote on.

Interesting thread about youth crime that I thought might be worth reading.

Lost me at experts in the field.

Experts in the field are like management consultants. A bunch of seagulls who think they know best, initiate constant change to remain relevant and needed.

Changes to teaching, youth crime initiated by these so called experts continually makes the problem worse.

And your evidence for this assertion is?

A B-double truck fire on a major thoroughfare caused by crime three days out from an election. Offenders on the run, which is no different to the inevitable being out on bail - which we all know is exactly what will happen.

Labor may as well pack their bags and go home now.

Goodness, you scare easily.

Crime happens everywhere.

oh, thats right, some prefer to think things were better in the 1950's. That the sky is falling in.

Guess what it is not.

Qld is a great place to live. Just ask the 80,000 who came from down south, in 1 yr during the Pandemic.

They changed Qld forever.

You can not plan for that.

You cant plan for the massive rise in cost to buy a house during that time.

You cant plan infastructure for that.

LNP have no answers. They are scaremongering, as usual.

QLD is the crime capital of Australia. The Labor party has ignored the problem for 10 years but, on the eve of the election has decided to announce huge plans to fix the problem.

I work in the field.
What do you do in the field?

Go and do a quick 2 minute search about the declining education standards in Australia. There's plenty of material, even when you avoid the politically motivated stuff.
Are you familiar with Maslow's hierarchy of needs? I'd suggest kids performing well in education requires them to at minimum have the first two stages of the pyramid met: physiological needs and safety needs. (And, the more additional stages they have met, the more likely they are to achieve their potential).

I'd again suggest reading the Reddit post linked above, because it describes how many of the youth offenders do what they do because they don't have those basics met. Maybe they don't have food on the table, or a roof over their heads, or parents and guardians who won't abuse them, or treatment for their mental health issues, including trauma. And perhaps we can't stop all of them from committing crimes. But addressing those missing needs would at least reduce it, and maybe lift education standards along the way.

80000 is less then 2 percent. Ofcourse you can plan for that. Our annual national immigration rate is usually higher then that and during the pandemic there was not only no immigration but heaps of students and temporary workers left.

Thats weird. A few months ago before the NT election, newscorp was saying NT was the crime capital.
Now with a QLD election, they tell us QLD is the crime capital.

And you are repeating this nonsense unironically?

It can be both. One in terms of number of crimes and one in terms of per capita.

Can you provide any evidence which is which?

Because it seems like the regular pre election Murdoch scare campaign that you are promoting.
Peter Dutton said Victoria was the crime capital with African gangs keeping people from leaving the house.

Sounds like we need a crime-off.

(Isn't Townsville the crime capital?) A good mix of drug-using youths, military and FIFO miners.
