True, but it'd be fun! :D

Have done, and felt damn good. But curiosity did get the better of me in the end too. Is this your gentle way of telling me he's actually right and you wouldn't have him? :$

He's caused a lot of division on our board (Jong, I mean. Well, the flog too, but anyway), so curious to see if he's rated at all by other clubs supporters.
Don't know enough about him to say either way. He's certainly not one who's ever grabbed my attention when playing against us.

Can't say I've ever thought - "would love to see him at the Hawks"

First 22 at the dogs and they are sitting top 4 so he is obviously doing something right - can't imagine bevo giving someone a run if they didn't deserve it

Lin Jong was great for Footscray in the VFL Grand Final a few years back. There may be a spot at Hawthorn for him but i'd say he would be in a similar spot as he is at the dogs behind a few in his position but definitely capable of playing at the required level.

Many clubs would have him playing every week in my opinion, just depends on if they already have a better option in his position which Hawthorn and Bulldogs do. Collingwood, Freo, Carlton, Richmond, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Essendon and Geelong could all put him to good use.

Forgive the intrusion gents, just hoping that a few of your knowledgable posters will humour me...

We have an absolute flog on our board with a disgusting disdain for Lin Jong. Says that he should be delisted from our side immediately. Believes him to be one of the worst players to pull on our jumper. Qualifies his statements by saying "he wouldn't even be rookie listed at Hawthorn".

Was just wondering if you guys could put a number on where he would fit on your list. I believe him to be around 23-26 on ours, and probably anywhere between 25-30 on yours? Agree, disagree? Am I mad and our flog is right and you wouldn't have him as decent depth?

Any opinion greatly appreciated...

Cheers guys!

Quality player. Wouldn't be best 22, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at him as depth for sure. Would sit around where JOR, Whitecross, Howe, Litherland etc... are.

Yeah, had a ripping game in that final!

Thanks for your opinion, greatly appreciated! :thumbsu:

Thanks Blaze, that's about where I would have him with a quick glance over your list too. Certainly not best 22 (as I said, I don't think he is with us either but is getting games right now due to injuries with Dahl, Libba etc) but maybe slightly ahead of those guys at the moment purely down to games played at this stage. A few more games under their belt some of these guys could well overtake him. Just saying that if someone goes down he's certainly not the worst guy to have to bring in to the side. Cheers mate! :thumbsu:

No probs. I don't get the Lin Jong hate TBH, I think he'd have some currency on the trade market. I could see teams like Melbourne, Port, Brisbane, Richmond, Carlton and maybe Collingwood at least having some interest if the price was right.

Yeah, I'd have thought so too. Considering we've got a number of tall mids now in Bont, Macrae and Dunkley it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if we could get a low second round pick, a genuine winger, or a small crumbing forward for him if we had to trade him. I suppose that shows why Collingwood and Essendon have been interested in him (that we know of).

Anyway, thanks for your time, best of luck for the rest of the year. If we can't do it (highly unlikely) then at least please knock off those Geelong and / or Sydney pricks!

Right, essendon... forgot they existed for a minute.

I have some friends who want to go out to training this week - and we were wondering if the boys will be having a run out at Waverley on Friday?
If so, what would be the best time to get out there?
If not, would Thursday be a better day? And I'm presuming be out there by around 9:30am for a 10:00am start on Thursday?

I have a question that has been plaguing me since time immemorial. Why does the gameday thread get locked as soon as the game finishes, but start at the beginning of the day?

I mean the day hasn't finished when the thread finishes... As soon as the game iis over, with several hours of gameday still to run, the thread is locked, yet the second the day starts it is OK to open the game day thread, surely it is either the game thread or the game day thread. In its current incarnation it is the before-the-game-but-on-the-day-of-the-game-and-up-until-the-end-of-the-actual-game thread.

Autopsy thread commences at the time of death.

No point duplicating threads. Game Day is kind of redundant when autopsy commences.

I know.

Well where is the problem??

Game day thread closes immediately the match finishes.
Autopsy is opened straight after.
I know. If you read my post (which was posted tongue in cheek btw) you'll notice my comment is more about what it is called. As in why isn't it called the before-the-game-but-on-the-day-of-the-game-and-up-until-the-end-of-the-actual-game thread.

When you become a senior mod, I dare you to name the threads that way.

The thread is a preview thread for the first 3 quarters of its incarnation. Then it is a game thread. So it supersedes the preview thread up until the actual game, then is itself superseded by the autopsy thread after the game. But it's still game day. So I propose we change its name for all the literally challenged folk.
