Review R13: The Good, Bad and Ugly vs. Richmond Tigers

Hopefully some good will come out of a very ugly game with the final nail in the coffin for Nicks.

Clearly we are a team desperately in the need of a new direction.

Enough is enough.

Act now Olsen or it will only become even more painful.

I suspect we are hamstrung until year end.

Ie the extension may have a 10 game win trigger (if true), but we are bound to provide him the opportunity to get there.

Well that was bad. Worst performance in a couple of years.

In terms of positives... Nankervis had his best game at AFL level I think. Michalanney was pretty good, Keane and Butts had good moments. Nice goal from Dowling. Rachele and Fogarty were both decent. That's about it.

Lots of bad. Forward line looked really poor - obviously have a range of injuries but Walker is close to retirement and Rankine is going to be primarily a midfielder so it's a glimpse of what's ahead. Thought Strachan was fine around the ground but well beaten by Nankervis and we rarely get smashed like that in the ruck normally. Overall just a good example of how much we rely on a limited range of high impact players.

Will be the last AFL game for Burgess you'd think, possibly Strachan as well.

Even in the final moments a lack of composure from Murphy, Fogarty and a couple of others showed why we rarely win close ones.

Will be interesting to see what the response is. Will be a lot of pressure on Nicks but obviously some big ins next week. Will be interesting to see if that turns things around.

30 seconds of play sums up the current state of the Adelaide Football Club.

Dowling bursts away and instinctively kicks a goal to bring the game within reach. Natural football.

At the next centre bounce, with the game in the balance, Laird is out of position on Taranto who bursts through and they clear.

Dowling then gets three or four more touches in the forward 50, while Taranto runs around like an unregistered dog for the last 5 minutes and gets key touches. Laird is literally jogging.

The club's coaches continually put faith in senior players who let them down. Nicks is finished, no doubt, but it hasn't just been Nicks. It's ingrained.

Shit game....but I thought Borlase played a decent game and Fogarty did some great things, just lacked the finishing touch on a few plays. Hard when your surrounded by turkeys.

Good: O'Brien averages 1.9 marks and 0.5 contested marks a game, and Strachan had both of those beaten before half time. Nankervis was fantastic. Dowling was good on debut. This now has to be the end for Nicks.

Bad: The midfield got **** on. The third quarter in particular was dreadful. Sholl was shocking, especially in the first quarter. Seemed to get bodied even easier than usual. Michalanney's second half was poor (though he was one of the best on in the first half). Hinge had a noticeably quiet first half.

Shat: Strachan got injured, so his positive performance is now redundant. Laird had too much inside mid time, all three of Rachele, Berry and Schoenberg didn't have enough. I really didn't like Rachele handing it to Dowling late on - Rachele really needed to take the responsibility in that moment in my opinion.

Without any emotion attached to this post....the club is completely ****ed from head to toe. We have coaches who are complete and utter ****ing morons who shouldn't coach mini league. We have senior players who squib every contest and disgrace the guernsey. We have arrogant cocksmoking administrators who prance around like they have something to brag about.
The club needs a ****ing clean out of the highest proportions.
They can all go and get ****ed.
