Adelaide overtake the Sagpies in the top 4 with tonight's result :D :D

And set to be destroyed again next week by Carlton ...

COP THAT :D

Just to build the drama a little bit :)

No, seriously I have no idea. I just hope we haven't left our run too late.

Dropping games to poor sides might cost you. I still recon you will come 6th. The side is good enough to win 7 in a row, only the game against Geelong you won't be favourites.

When the Pies bounce back to top your 2nd mob next week will you turn your back on them and go back to being a Geelong supporter?

hmm.. i cant see blues dropping out of the top 8. as much as i hate to admit it. they'll probably go fourth next week

and bombers may slip out but i reckon they'll hang on to 8th spot.

i'd genuinely like the hawks to make the 8 (and one of bombers and blues to miss) but i think the top 8 wont change from here.

Doubt we will, poor percentage and a poor run home.

I can't see Adelaide making the top 4. We have the toughest run home out of ANY AFL club. I think we'll stay 5th. At least our percentage is better after the thrashing of Freo.

I don't know if Hawks can make the 8 either, but I didn't think they'd beat the Pies, so anything could happen :p

WTF was that sh1t in the 3rd Qtr?

Couldn't hit the side of a barn and no-one could be bothered to do a little bit of gut running.

Hawks got their zone going as well as ever and we went to water in the 3rd.

Disappointing final margin, let's just hope the Crows get a touch up tomorrow and we come out firing against the Blues.

Not surprised by the result. The soft draw did grossly overstate the Pies recent performances. The Malthouse gameplan hasn't changed much over the past 3 years. They are obsessed with moving the ball along the boundary, using massive numbers to avoids contests at all costs, hence their off-the-scale uncontested possession count and large number of stat-sheet-champions. It's no accident that their only good win was against the Bulldogs who are the uncontested footy kings of the AFL. All the Hawks did was attack the footy hard, apply pressure, and force the Pies to play contested footy, and the Pies fell apart. The Pies list is worse in 2009, and the worst in the top-8 this year. Just look through each line. L Brown and Woods in the ruck! They have Cloke and Anthony as their KP forwards. Their midfield lacks ANY star. I know the media tells us to call Pendlebury a star, but he never stands up when it counts, and his attack on the footy is feeble, and more noticeable when under pressure like last night, and slow. I also saw 2-3 incidents in the Pies forward line where Thomas just sat behind the pack, hoping for his opponent to drop the ball to get a cheap goal, rather than committing to the contest. This was symbolic of their performance. :)

parrot - one of the rare times I do agree with your assessment.

Leigh Brown and Cameron Wood were liabilities last night for the Pies and have been for much of the season when they have played. There is no doubt the Pies did miss Josh Fraser - but there are still more than the lingering question mark or two over his number 1 draft pick status and he certainly doesn't influence games against the good sides. It is definately a major concern for any sort of premiership aspirations the Pies may have.

Dale Thomas despite 19 possessions was largely ineffective in the game and generally fails to apply much physical pressure to his opponents. I really fail to understand the hype surrounding him. I think it has more to do with physical appearance than actual football output.

Got to agree with some of your comments guys:(

But to say Collingwood is lacking talent is like calling Geelong try hards, or Hawthorn handbaggers!

Any one who knows anything about footy will tell you that some sides match up better than other sides do... Syd v Carl... Coll v Syd... Haw v Coll... for whatever reason the players at that point of time just seem to have the mickey over the other team.

Hawthorn hit their straps on the weekend (and if it haddn't have been Collingwood getting drubbed) I would have been impressed. It was a fantastic team effort by the Hawks plus some individual brilliance by Hodge and Buddy.

If's and but's are not gonna win an arguemant, but the underlying truth is Collingwoods 'young' team are still learning the caper...
Thomas, Pendles, Anthony, Beams, Wellingham, Wood, Cloke, Dick, Sidebottom, Barham, N Brown, Goldsack.. these guys are going to be (possibly) around for 12-15 years..
and Davis, Didak, Swan, Fraser, Medhurst are going to be here for at least another 5 - 8 years...
we are only going to lose 4-5 players off our list in the next 3 years.

Time will tell if we can get ourselves a flag..
