I'm not unhappy with Cook being dropped, I would've dropped Murphy over him of course but we're never doing that

I hope Jones would've been dropped if he didn't have the personal reason. I also hope all's okay there

Ryan not in sucks

Hopefully Berry's sub

Five years into a rebuild and we're still using Laird and Crouch as our main mids?

Hopefully the next rebuild includes the midfield.
can't wait to watch us handballing and running backwards for every cente clearance instead of running forward.
look out for lairds 10 sky balls a game as well. this club is its own worst enemy, FML.

Adelaide Captain Jordan Dawson headlines four inclusions for the Crows ahead of the Round 21 match against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Skipper returns after missing last week’s game with Hawthorn while progressing through the AFL’s concussion protocols.

Midfielder Matt Crouch, as well as defenders Nick Murray and Josh Worrell, round out the additions to the side.

Crouch recovered from a shoulder injury but missed last weekend's SANFL match due to illness.

Adelaide Head of Football Adam Kelly said Crouch’s dedication and hard work with his shoulder rehabilitation were catalysts for his return.

“When Matty bravely fought on versus the Hawks back in Round 12 after hurting the shoulder which would then require surgery, it was a sign of his commitment to the team,” Kelly said.

“He has demonstrated that same grit to have himself ready to return this week.

“Matty was in really strong form early in the season and we hope he is rewarded for his hard work by being able to recapture that over the remainder of the year.”

Worrell played his first game of competitive football with the Crows’ SANFL side last weekend, after fracturing his arm in the Club’s Round 10 AFL game.

Kelly said his performance in the SANFL was strong and warranted a recall.

“Josh (Worrell) had shown a significant progression in his development up until he unfortunately fractured his arm back in Round Nine,” Kelly said.

“To see him return in the manner he did last week in the SANFL was testament to the amount of work that he has put into his rehabilitation and was a source of great satisfaction to us all.

“Josh’s versatility is really important to us and he is a welcomed addition to the AFL team this week.”

Murray, meanwhile, hyperextended his left knee early in the game against Essendon but scans later cleared the backman of any serious damage.

“We nervously awaited the results of Muz’s knee scan a couple of weeks ago and with great relief reported the all clear, although the incident was significant enough to keep him on the sidelines last week,” Kelly said.

“Muz was building back to his best and it is pleasing that he now has an opportunity to continue that build and to finish 2024 in strong fashion.”

Elliott Himmelberg, James Borlase and Brayden Cook have been omitted, while Chayce Jones will miss this week’s game due to personal reasons.

Brodie Smith joins Himmelberg and Borlase as the emergencies.

Adelaide takes on Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday at 4.05pm (ACST).

The match will be broadcast live on Channel 7 Adelaide, Fox Footy and Kayo.

IN: Dawson, Crouch, Murray, Worrell

OUT: Jones (personal reasons), Borlase, Cook, Himmelberg (omitted)

Hopefully the next rebuild includes the midfield.

The recruiters probably thought at the time why would the club need to draft Will Day or Caleb Serong when we will still have Rory Laird and Matt Crouch in five years time 😂

Kelly "Matty was in really strong form early in the season and we hope he is rewarded for his hard work by being able to recapture that over the remainder of the year.” This club is run by a bunch of absolute pelicans. The SEASON IS DONE, PLAY CURTIN in the middle. IF Curtin is Sub again i will ****en spew up.

Apart from Murphy staying in, that's a decent set of changes.

Smith axed for real this time.
Borlase and Himmelberg aren't in our best team.
I like Cook but he's had a heap of chances and hasn't taken them.
It's a shame Jones has a personal issue. Hopefully all is okay but also hopefully we would have omitted him anyway.

The good kids retained: Curtin, Dowling, Taylor.

I think Rachele will be sub. Has been carrying a knee and we loooove to have players nursing niggles as sub.

So Borlase, Cook, ‘Himmelberg are the only ones omitted from that horrible performance but even they all make the emergency list - perhaps Jones would have also been an omission. But despite even the commentators roasting Murphy he’s retained as are most of his mates.

The season is done make sweeping changes let’s see some guys on the list so decisions can be made - oh no bring back Crouch straight in because he dedicated himself to his rehab.

Why AFC why?

Is there anyone else other than on this forum who can see it, obviously no one involved at the club.

Not had overall but Cook has shown more than enough to persist with and get games into.

Cook has some nice skills but makes Sholl look hardcore inside mid the last few weeks.
Doesn’t appear to be able to lift his effort rating and isn’t mercurial enough to impact otherwise. Has had a very good run - not a Murphy run but a good one

May even be a bit tired as it’s his first signifcnant batch of games

I would not call Dawson Worrell and Murray "seniors"

The Seniors are Tex Smith Laird and Crouch

Crouch's selection is fine as we have basically all our other young mids in the team that we want to see.

Swap Murphy for Rankine and it's the best team we've put out this year

Agreed. Not a big fan of Soligo on the wing - would rather Laird push back behind the ball and keep Soligo in the middle. But they will probably mix it up

Gotta lot of respect for crouch to be fair. Battled through a lot of injuries and has always given his all for the club.
Our midfield's complete pantsing last week put Crouch in the frame
