Preview R3: Changes vs. North Melbourne

We wont make any changes I don't think.

However I'd like to get a look at Butts for Keane. Feel Jordan is more reliable & will stop the leak of goals a bit more. May lose a little attacking drive but with the rest of our game in sync & nice mix of runners/ball users etc we can probably do that.

Also Draper needs a full game. Probably send Peatling to sub for 1 week.

Agree completely.

Keane has too many "oh shit" moments, good teams will punish them.

Butts is more reliable for me.

Milera - good game, but what's his role?

With Milera and Laird back, I feel like we're short a genuine attacking option out of defence.

Peatling was good, but not great, Cumming very similar, but gotta give them a month or so to find their feet.

Essendon are terrible.

No changes assuming no injuries.

If Rankine is injured as some have suggested I'd bring in Pedlar as the sub and give Draper a starting game.

Probably same if Draper misses with the cork - Pedlar to the sub.

Was peatling no good?
Didn't lack composure or turn it over, but couldn't really get into the game either. That said, if he's in the bottom four players, then it's still an immense upgrade on McMurphy.

Hoping to watch the replay tonight, looks like cumming struggled a bit too?

Yeah, he was also quiet.

Still, we know both are quality and I'm confident they'll build into the season. Especially Cumming who had an interrupted pre-season.

Curious to see how long we persist with that.

Laird isn't a good ball user, so happy with him in defence provided he isn't viewed an an attacking outlet. Hinge a much better attacking option.

Milera can be a great attacking weapon, but he's still clearly finding his way back to AFL level.

Was much better this week, but we need more from him.

Not a problem at the moment, if Milera becomes a threat again, it's huge for us, but at current level, I think those two are not quite there.

No issues with Peatling or Cumming, just think Peatling was poor today and we need a full game into Sid so it's probably the easiest way to make it happen. Have no doubt Peatling will play some good footy, in fact I thought he was really good last week.

Milera was fine, would like to see him a little more aggressive, could see he couldn't chase defensively later in the match either so prob still getting fitness up.

I disagree with the Butts for Keane move. Losing any form of attacking drive from your defensive unit is a disaster as that's what controls your outside game.

Seeing we've cut up two middling teams, it's likely a case of don't fix what isn't broke.

Anyway, unchanged for me this week.

I'd be for Cummins to sub for Draper, seeing it's North. Coming back from a long term injury, and gives 2 and a bit quarters for Curtin to get more wing time.

Well maybe it turns out Keane is the best option but I haven't been impressed in the preseason or today. It's alright if he's offering some attacking drive but today there was none of that, free kicks given away (got away with a couple more) and then issues with his kicking so there wasn't much on offer. Just a whole lot of cringe when he went near the ball.

I just have my doubts we can concede scores against better sides and purely over power them offensively so finding the right balance between attack / defence is going to be important.
