Yeah, NFI what I'm on about.Wouldn't Murray play on Larkey, King and Cameron?
It's late, I guess.

Agree completely.
Keane has too many "oh shit" moments, good teams will punish them.
Butts is more reliable for me.
Milera - good game, but what's his role?
With Milera and Laird back, I feel like we're short a genuine attacking option out of defence.
Peatling was good, but not great, Cumming very similar, but gotta give them a month or so to find their feet.
Essendon are terrible.
Anyway, unchanged for me this week.
I'd be for Cumming to sub for Draper, seeing it's North. Coming back from a long term injury, and gives 2 and a bit quarters for Curtin to get more wing time.
Laird isn't a good ball user, so happy with him in defence provided he isn't viewed an an attacking outlet.
Sholl was good and has been good pretty much all last year. Has really come on as a consistent contributor on the wing. No idea why we'd change that once he turned the corner.
I dont think any of us have forgotten, and they're both equally at fault for that.We should not drop either, but it would be Murray before Keane. Some of you have forgotten how terrible we have recently been at getting the ball out of defence.
No, Keane is a waaaaaaaaaay more attacking, risk-taking player than Butts.I dont think any of us have forgotten, and they're both equally at fault for that.
Yeah he is, he also turns it over a great deal more. No, Keane is a waaaaaaaaaay more attacking, risk-taking player than Butts.
Essendon smashed the Hawks around the ball, had more scoring shots and lost be 4 goals last week. They aren’t terrible. They are competitive.

It’s way too early to be using any kind of form line or game style trends. Teams don’t always turn up to play seen there’s sample size of 1, there’s nothing to read into.
But it’s a good win nonetheless. We just don’t know if we smoked a top few side with a few out or a bottom few side with few out. So far we’ve comfortably beaten last years 10th and 11th side, both injury hit, I’d be putting the lid back on for now. 100 point win coming up this week and then a genuine test that should tell us a lot more than the opening 3 rounds. But a 10 goal win at the G does feel pretty good, makes me lean towards a good showing up north.
There is no lid off - just stating that the small sample size suggests both Saints and Bombers are better than some give them credit for.
Both have played expected genuine challengers for deep finals runs in their other games and performed very well.
I wrote on the GameDay thread before the game that if we didn’t beat the Bombers we wouldn’t play finals - and I think that’s the case this week as well. We have to beating these sides - whether they are poor or even okay - because it will only get harder. The comp is very even and you have to be beating these types of teams

*SMHGiven it’s North Melbourne, if Draper’s cork is anything less than 100% resolved, I’d be resting him with a plan for returning as sub and then a full game. And I’d probably give Pedlar the sub vest for the week.
But don’t the ask who comes out of the current 22 to take the vest. Forget backline guys, that’s not happening unless Cumming goes back to half back. Maybe Crouch, I still want to see whether we’re just as good or better with another ball winning and dynamic midfielder instead of him.

The hate Laird gets on these boards is wild at times. Yes we all wanted him out of the midfield as it was clear his output & effectiveness had dropped away very noticeably, along with the poor mix of players in there. There is however absolutely no reason he can't be good for us down back again, we have a clear weakness in ground balls there which just happens to be a strength of his. Too small of a sample size in just 2 games against undermanned opponents to definitively say anything yet. Happy with his first 2 rounds, can only beat whose in front of us & he did his part.Think you are just carrying your opinion from last year.
Laird has been a very good ball user so far this year.
When he is in the midfield and under pressure he is not a particularly good user (a la Ben Keays). We saw the past couple of years he just threw it on the boot blindly.
This year he has 52 possessions, 44 of which are uncontested and his DE is 90%.
No Crows Defender has more meters gained or Score Involvements than Laird so far this year.
