The one thing that explains tonight is that we chipped backwards and sideways so many times when our players simply do not have the skills to carry out such a precision passing style og game.

Whether it's the coaching panel thats instructing the players to play that way or whether its the players not wanting to put in the extra effort to run and carry and spread, I don't know.
But someone like Yarran hardly ever runs and takes on any players anymore, so maybe this answers the question, who knows.

The 2014 analog to this game was the mauling against Port. We have a tough, competitive group of young blokes, all we can hope for is the same intensity next week. Oh, and for the senior guys to execute basic skills. That would also be nice.

carlton2dabone mate the chip kicking and shit is a result of those things I mentioned, not the plan to get around it.

Whether its a result of the things you mentioned or its instruction from the coaching panel, the point remains that every single Carlton supporter knows that our players do not have the required skill level to pull of those chip kicks and backwards kicking.

So unless we address this asap, we are going to have a really bad end to the year.

The team the past month has been playing on effort. There is hardly any structure which is understandable considering it requires a preseason for a coach to ingrain his philosophy.

Good - plenty. Genuinely surprised by how comfortable some of the kids look. Holman in particular.

Buckley gets better and better, Bell too. We missed Doc, good to have him back.

Yarran was pretty awful. Found more of the ball in the 2nd half due to going off Walters, his stats don't reflect his game though, hope we as fans aren't pleased with that effort. Rowe was pretty poor also, couldn't bloody mark. Hendo is as good as gone, looks uninterested and softer than usual. He hasn't got the attitude premiership teams need. Geez Cas was quiet. Few other average games but all in all not a bad result. Endeavour was definitely there.

I :hearts: Kreuzer.

Has a bit of Mike Fitzpatrick about him. The long handballs to a teammate in attacking position reminded me of Fitzy at least.

Tonight typifies my frustration as a supporter.

We are not clean enough, not disciplined enough and our "experienced" players are leaving a lot to be desired.

Really am going to struggle with this team for the next 5 years let alone this one.

We have a few disinterested guys at the moment, it's not helping having them out there. Doesn't matter who it is, club needs to honestly sort out which players are not prepared for a few lean years, and agree to part ways.

If I wanted to watch a team that can't make the simpest of kicks and handballs on a consistent basis, I would go down to my local footy ground and start following the local under 11s team.

How did a bunch of these players make it to AFL level if they are unable to execute the most basic skills of the game when they are under no pressure.

No youth, no next generation.

Cripps
Docherty
Menzel
Holman
Graham
Buckley
Bell
Everitt
Byrne

Very confident those guys are going to go on with it.

A couple of others waiting in the wings or too soon to tell as well.

Those worried about the skill level, it was just that kind of game.

The player with the lowest efficiency was still at 61.5% and played a contested game.

9 Fremantle players had a lower efficiency % than that ... Pearce, Sutcliffe, Walters, Sheridan, Barlow, Fyfe, Taverner, Pavlich and Crozier.

Perspective.

Just touched down in Brisbane so missed the whole game. Was it raining over there? I see we kicked no score in the last quarter?

Bucketed down in the last. Players behind the ball.
