Simpkin out in a midfield that is already prone to mid-game lapses, meaning the ball will be constantly in a backline where we've just lost our most reliable defender. Oh dear.

Well, hopefully we don't get significantly outcoached again this time.

FFS do not allow their mids to belt us in clearance and do not allow Sicily to run around by himself take 9 intercept marks.

If we do that, then we should only lose by our back 6 making their muss forwards look like superstars.
Add an extra player to the clearance area and get Ford to play on Sicily.

I think it's also mid setup. Reeves due to his height is going to give the Hawks mids first use. Xerri will compete but he's not going to give our mids the silver service Goldy has in the past. They need to take a leaf out of what Carlton did against Freo (and what Geelong did to us for that matter), harass the oppo and play defensively.

This business of getting sucked into the ball and running offensively hoping for the perfect tap is for the bin.

Geelong literally just sat off our first run then squeezed them and the first receiver.

I think the mix will take some work to figure out, obviously some will have to play more defensive than they are used to but also just putting the right players together - an LDU / Thomas mix seems a very aggressive one to wrest back control of a final that is slipping away, but way too attacking for week to week at the moment.

The question is are Hawthorn good enough to put us away when we have our 20 minute headless chook routine? Last week they were competitive, the 2 prior weeks they were horrid.

Most teams are. Sydney and * weren't and we managed to get ourselves into a winning position.

Is my boi RHJ going to debut?..
Have to be a shot given the previous Spicer selection shows a real want to fill that type of role.

I actually think (hope) we will see some pretty aggressive changes this week. It's time to close out the season with some purpose.

So embarrassing that the 16th placed team’s supporters are confident of smashing a team one place below them. 14 losses in a row will mean that even the most positive north fans are brought down.
They shouldn't be so confident. They beat us by 3 goals in Round 3 whilst we were still learning our system and had come back from Perth.
Don't think we had LDU, Phillips, Simpkin, Wardlaw, Ford and TT just off the top of my head. Our side is very different from Round 3.

TT owes the Hawks one too. Last game against them - r1 2022 Jiath gave him a bath.
