Who legitimately think we are going to win? And how?

Unlikely but at Marvels we seem to play well. But I’m sick of being disappointed week after week and expect a Loss and not to win another game for the season

Any wins, can be greeted with joy

Surely Dawson comes in this week for Log.

I just don't get why he wasn't given a run when McKay or Griff were out before, considering he's played well in the 2's.

If our coaching team don't rate the guy we picked #1 in the MSD, why the hell is that same recruiting team that picked him still here?

They're not?

Losing Logue and Simpkin hurts but we can win this game. Hawks have been just as inconsistent as us. We play better at Marvel.
Win the contest in the middle, bring pressure, shut off their uncontested mark game and punish them no the scoreboard when we get a chance.
We had no idea what we were doing defensively last time as we were still learning the system.
We didn't have LDU and Wardlaw either and weren't giving the level of effort we did against Bombers. If we bring that we can win.

I'd like our inside mids to be puking from exertion in this one.

Most of the Hawks' midfield runs both ways when their team isn't in the grip of their weekly one-quarter long spate of incompetence.

Who runs both ways for us? Simpkin sometimes. But he's out and his fitness hasn't really stood out this year. LDU when he can be arsed. Which isn't always. Plus he's only just shaken off the injury cobwebs. Wardlaw does, but his stamina is shit, through very little fault of his own. Phillips isn't slow but he doesn't cover the ground well. TT's in the same boat as Wardlaw, though his lack of fitness is his fault. Greenwood defends well but is useless once the first opposition handball is directed out of the centre. All in all, a talented yet wholly unpromising setup fitness wise.

Winnable ****ing game. Our first one for four games. We've got a not-completely-horrific record at Docklands. Tell them to ****ing run, Ratts

Have you been watching these blokes for the last 4 years?
Hate to be the 'akshually' guy, but coaching changeovers have been the one circumstance since Bard left in which we've played ok.

2019:
Bard's last game: Win
Shaw's first game, and second game: Win

2020:
Shaw's last game: Loss

2021:
Nobles' first game: Loss

2022:
Nobles' last game: Historic streak snapped, competitive loss against Pies
Patch's first game: Win
Patch's last game: Loss

2023:
Clarko's first game, and second game: Win
Ratts' first game: Close loss that we should've won

Seems coaching upheaval sparks some sort of uptick in the lads

Keep Ratts and Clarko, but alternate them so that they coach two consecutive weeks in a row (a first and a last game) then switch so we have a new coach for the next two weeks.

A very cunning plan indeed sir!

North should be made to watch the Giants / Hawks game from start to finish.
You'll see effort there from a young inexperienced Hawthorn. They literally "smashed" the Giants in the middle. Made Green, Kelly, Coniglio and anybody else they chucked in there look like VAFA players in the last q.

I haven't seen an effort from North like that for a long time.
You should come down to a VAFA game. They are lots of fun. I wrote a piece on the Canterbury Swinburne match for Footyalmanac last week.

The AFL is unreal footy while the VAFA is real footy, You should have seen the mud,

Got nostalgic I did.

This won't happen but losing Logue does present us with an opportunity to play a more modern type defence for the rest of the year. We could have McKay and Corr as the two talls then a range of mid size, quick and skillful defenders including 4-5 from Sheezel, Taz, Goater, Bergs, Archer, Perez, Young, Bonar, Dawson.

No room for Jack back there and who knows where LMac plays because defence is not his jam.
Forgive me but do we have more than one (you know who I reference) mid sized, skilful defenders?

Very much like the Roman republic did with their consuls. One ruled one day and the other was in charge the next day.

Nearly all the Roman conquests were done in the republic days.

Was a problem when a battle was in the offering as both generals wanted the battle to be on their day so they got the glory. Led to a few awful decisions.

This post has nothing to do with North.

Sorry.

Kevin Rudd kind of likes this.

Ah fair enough, I thought he was the first pick after luffy and the rest left, my bad.
If he was it was a week or so between them leaving and us taking him. I thought it was always gonna be him tho, even tho some wanted D'Massimo.

This why Rawlings must go his an incompetent administrator and Monday after the last game he should have papers stamped same goes for Brown this club needs to grow some grapefruits and make people pay for this clubs downfall we sack players why can’t we sack these people.
This sport is built on success and $$$ and if we don’t sack these 2 this club will continue to be laughed at as we known as the club that it doesn’t matter how many times you stuff up you will be rewarded for doing it.
