We just that midfielder and 20 games into Williamson short -- need replacement for Simpson Going forward (which will be difficult .. the rest is there and in reserves .. a Brad crouch would of helped us today or a bit of Fischer speed around the ball .. watching the replay will be interesting think we will still lose .. happy the effort and over all structureS as they seem repeatable just need improvement
Just turn if off when you hear the final siren

The result is a difficult one to swallow. That being said we nearly won it and it still stings badly losing in the way we did. Didn’t feel we had any passengers, many, many positives, and we lost to the best team in the comp after the siren. Last year we would have been disappointed but reflecting positively on this fact. It’s amazing how quickly the expectations of a win have grown amongst us supporters this year. Hopefully the younger success starved supporters are feeling it too, and feeling pretty good about their Blues. 👍

Congrats on Leeds. Amazing to see them back in the top flight.

Cheers pal.

Btw sometimes you learn more from these losses than wins, hopefully a good lesson for the playing and coaching group about composure in crunch time against quality opposition .

sh*t the bed in a big way.

Zero composure and kicking long isn't a game plan.
when we win the flag I look forward to your carping that we should have won by more...you're only ever really invested when we lose......it's actually puzzling

Our main issue today was lack of communication in marking situations.
We spoiled our own players at key moments too many times.
We clean that up, we win quite comfortably.

Now that I’ve calmed down, not a bad game from us against the comp leader.
We will be better for that experience.

To be fair, our last ten minutes was not good, and even though I was shattered to lose after the siren it was just luck that they hadn’t already iced the game before that.

Good experience for the boys - it takes desperation and composure late in those tight games against the best teams, it’s new territory for a lot of our guys. Some lessons can only be learned the hard way.

Better days are coming.

The mistakes we are picking up on or alternate situations will most definitely be reviewed in a few days. A win would be more galvanising but you’ve got to think that losing a close one again will teach more lessons than we think as diehard supporters. They’re top of the ladder and most likely will be playing a qualifying final in 12 weeks time.
We did really ****ing well today. We will bounce back. I still think next year we make our move on the comp. This short season will be the pivotal point in our development.

btw give me Wines, the boy can play

We're 2-2 in games under a goal...would be nice obviously to get to 3-1 but ultimately can't complain.

With all these close games we should be better at closing games out though with all the practice.

Melbourne - Got level but didn't capitalise on opportunities
Geelong - Lucky that they kept missing shots they should have kicked...were also 2/3 men down
Essendon - Also gave them a kick after the siren, saved by the distance
Port - Again give them a kick after the siren...and they kept intercepting, we couldn't get any field position. Also 2 men down in the last.

To be honest we haven't finished any of those games particularly well and luckily hung on to win 2 of them. Need to get better in these situations.
Looks like we lack abit of leadership on the field.

Solid performance against a club that's shown us absolutely no mercy over the last 5 years. The exciting thing about it was the amount of improvement that's left in this squad.

Thought we handed them the ascendancy whenever our pressure through the middle and front half of the ground dropped off.

Mr Vanilla had his best game this year today and as long as he keeps working hard his decision-making under pressure will continue to improve. Have always liked the effort he brings. :thumbsu:
