So it’ll be Dixon, Georgiades, Westhoff Forward. Clurey, Jonas, Lienert KPDs. Lienert as a KPD will not work.
Thinking about it though, the way Melbournes mid is structured I think Rockliff will go alright.
Hayes needed to come in.
No issue Rocky coming in, we got smashed at centre clearance. It’s the other changes that are the problem.

Old Kenny is the Human embodiment of putting a square peg in a round whole.
Hoff will go forward obviously and Lienert back into that 3rd tall role, so maybe i am being harsh. I dont mind that bit.
It's the fact that Rockliff and Wines are back in the midfield (and unable to play anywhere else)

I don’t mind that bit as Melbourne have a lot of slow clearance machines as well, so I think Rockliff and Wines will go ok. This doesn’t mean we should keep them playing together for every match though as they’ll get destroyed by some other teams.

We can get away with Lienert as the 3rd KPD because Melbourne only play 2 talls in attack to the best of my knowledge.

I hate Westhoff getting another game, even if he will be moved to the forward line as anticipated.

I don't understand why we are playing both Rockliff and Wines in the same side. It has not worked, and it won't work again tomorrow night. Thought it would have made sense to drop one of Boak or Ollie, play Rockliff and then can rotate the three players through this crammed fixture.

Would have liked to Hayes get a run but seems as though they're trusting Ladhams and are going to make some tweaks to the midfield setups. I would expect Houston to drop out of the midfield to play further behind the ball considering Bonner is out.

Look its not great. It was either Hayes coming in or Westhoff had to stay. There is literally no other option than those 2. I guess they decided Hayes is not ready? I don't mind the Lienert pick. At least Melbourne only play the 2 tall forwards, so no need to worry there. Rocky better pull his finger out, or we are fkd again with him and Wines together.

Even Buzza would've been a better option than current form Westhoff. At least you know he would've gone at Gawn with some aggression.

That said, knowing Westhoff he may well come out and kick 5 this week then do nothing for another month.

Westhoff staying in, and going forward, leaving Georgie Boy to play 3rd tall I don't mind. Yes he's out of form, but our other options are very limited. I'm glad we are stocking with structure. I would've liked to see Hayes in but I assume there are reasons for it.

Geez are those the only two changes? Ladhams will be slaughtered by Gawn.

We might as well rest all the senior players and get ready for the upcoming two home games..

Yea true, good point.
I was very harsh on Ladhams immediately after last weeks game, probably too harsh. At the very least this will be a huge learning opportunity for him. Coming up against the best tap ruckman of the last 10+ years.

Surely after what happened last week, they have spent the entire week practicing as a midfield group against a losing ruck and working on how Ladhams can kill the contest?

From an optimistic point of view, at least we seem to be sticking with the three KPF setup.

From a realistic point of view, I think we're going to lose by 6 goals and get destroyed in the midfield. Hope I'm wrong.

There must be some issue (fitness wise) with Hayes that means he's not in contention.

Buzza is a break glass pack busting replacement for Dixon and the more like for like replacement for Marshall was Watts but he must also not have appropriate conditioning (probably injury related) and the club is not letting on.

I think Rockliff in is ok vs Melbourne due to them essentially being a slow, big bodied midfield. Against nearly everyone else it's going to be SLOW AF.

Bonner out for Lienert won't really change much. Lienert is very much a receiver and distributor down back (Like Bonner) but might not turn it over as much - but also not as aggressive with his kicking.

Ken has gone next level and found a way to drop one of his favourites for terrible form without him missing a single game.

Look, fair enough Hoff was in as a late change last week. He wasn't meant to be playing and a tall emergency had to come in. But he didn't exactly take his reprieve with both hands. Hayes is a 0 gamer and an out of form Hoff finding form is the safer option in Hinkley's mind, but we know how Ladhams/Hoff in the ruck and Hoff forward will play out. Seeing how Ladhams/Hayes works would have been much more valuable long term - including for later this season in the event Lycett gets injured again.
