False... i said Ebert was bigger than Curnow and Robinson not BLOKES in proving the point that you said carlton have more size.

are you serious in the 2nd line?? my comment was in reply to a poster saying your mids have superior strength and pressure which is completely unproven..

Carlton Supporter: Our mids have superior strenght and pressure

Me: i don't agree, used wines and other mids as an argument to prove that that poster was underestimating our midfield and i stated one opinion that ebert was bigger than curnow and robinson in my opinion and wines was as big as bell (with all the other mids about on par, e.g. boak cornes cassisi vs murphy, mclean, gibbs)

You: you are underestimating Robinson and Curnow.

How can i be underestimating that i think our mids are on par in strength with your mids whilst backing that up and your poster is not underestimating our mids by claiming guys like Murphy, Gibbs and Mclean in particular have huge physical size about them.

um ok....
False and full of shit... ;)

You stated in (post #1208) that apart from Bell and (he was a maybe) you doubted that any of the other Carlton mids listed in post #1205 would be able to knock "any" of the Port mids of their feet or intimidate them which is unproven !!

Go and re-read your own drivel...

I suggested that you may be underestimating Robinson and Curnow as I believe that they could knock some of the Port bigger bodies of their feet, My opinion...

You went on about not mistaking lack of size for lack of aggression which as I pointed out was exactly what you were doing.

Is this a port list management thread?
Ollie Wines is bigger then....

We are stuffed, no chance !!

Take the weights and heights with a grain of salt, I don't think Carlton has updated them in years. Weight/Strength comes into it with the push and shove for position at ball ups, you get pushed and your out of the play, you move your opponent it creates space and you can push off him to use it. We are playing a very push and shove setup at clearances this season. Just watch us push opponents right into the ruckmen and out of the way a lot this year. From what I have seen of the nab cup it's going to be a crucial tactic this season. Port have some big fellas but their lighter fellas are probably lighter than our lighter ones.

Even if so, stating that they cannot is more proven than stating they can with absolutely no proof that they ever have...

The confusion is that my responses were largely in reply to a different poster. you say i may be underestimating curnow and robinson which is your opinion but in saying that you were taking my remarks to a different poster who i was claiming were underestimating ports mids and then used my example to say i was underestimating those two players.

i'd say that someone underestimating something would generally be on the right side in saying that i doubt something can happen that hasnt happened before and also backing up the unlikelihood of that with the players weights and strength and stats than for someone to be called out on underestimating in stating something that is completely unproven (i said it was my opinion that i DOUBT they could knock them off their feet, which is not a statement of fact which is unproven it is simply an opinion based on evidence (weight) where as the other underestimating post almost stated as a fact that carlton mids have more strength and pressure which is COMPLETELY unproven.

This reminds me of when I was in primary school and kids would say to each other "my dad could beat up your dad". Seriously? Who cares who's bigger? I'd rather a team full of skinny little weedie dudes as long as we win the freakin' game.
Yeah but not as weedie as Collingwoods MEB please...:D

i doubt any of these guys apart from maybe bell would knock our mids off their feet or intimadate them in the slightest

My comment was in response to one of your posters who said carlton will be too good in the midfield with their strength and pressure. I don't see how your midfield is stronger in anyway, i would say par..

You seem fixated on your players size and strength.

This is NOT a PORT thread.

Move on and back on topic!

Will be interesting if Cornes can back up last year.

Could it be a Shane Tuck like resurgence (1 year wonder)?

or is it a permanent feature?

Tuck wasn't half the player Kane Cornes has been over his career.

Definitely not a one year wonder.

Anyone else think Carlton at $1.60 is a bit short?

Absolutely yes. I'm not surprised we're listed favourites given the game is in Melbourne, but for mine this is just about a 50/50 game.
