I thought it was obvious that it was a tongue in cheek statement? Clearly, he doesn’t hate youth - don’t think a senior coaching role would be a great position for a bloke that hates young fellas right?

I didn’t say I needed him to make me look like a nuffie, but he should do on the weekend if he is any chance of keeping his job mate. As, I like most believe he’s out the door!

Mate if it's tongue in cheek it would be better accompanied by a wink than a smile. ;)

I do apologise though, just that I've had gutful of seeing that sort of sh*t and it doesn't come with a tongue in a cheek and is boringly repetitive.

Same goes to you mate, sorry if I came across as a dick - sometimes it doesn’t translate great on the net, I promise I’m not a sarcastic arseh*le!

Whatever the case is, as long as our club moves forward we’ll be happy. Have a good night mate

What if they all play well and we win, do we offer him an extension?

We're having a bit of a time with Covid here in Sydney, wonder if Teague left it here on Saturday.

Teague has showed many times, that he holds certain players to different standards. He was more than happy to drop SPS after getting 15 possessions in 3/4 as the sub, but wouldn’t drop Williams after getting the ball 9 times in the whole game.

Gov was persisted with last year, despite horrible form, Levi was persisted with this year despite poor form, Martin is persisted with, despite being unable to run.

Teague has in his head, who’s best 22 and picks them if fit (even when they’re not) regardless of effort and form.

Why would we offer the coach an extension if we get the win? Teague is being judged on his tenure

In the ruck? Nowhere near solid enough for that. He'd cop knees in the head.

IMO, we should consider Fog as a small defender. Can tackle, has enough pace.

Edit: You mean their Fogarty. Easily handled by Plowman.

Sad thing is Martin had as many pressure acts as any of our forwards and Williams had the most of all our defenders. It’s a collective problem atm, it’s just frustrating that big name recruits aren’t better in that regards then the rest. The problem is though if you are making a statement you pick the biggest culprits and it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if that is Cripps and McKay.

Mckay definitely needs to work on his game, nice the ball hits the deck, he’s big and fast, yet provides little pressure.

No I won’t, Williams gets paid $800,000 per season, it’s his job to play to a good standard, Martin is on $1M as well, these aren’t kids in their first or second seasons, they are seasoned footballers.

Neither of them should be in the side this week, their form last week and their lack of effort, should have been called out by the coach.

They are talented guys, they may play a good game, but the attitude won’t change unless they are held to a higher standard.
Martin got payed $1m in a year but he sure as hell ain’t on $1m a year across his contract.

Correct. Guys like Martin, McGovern, Williams on massive front ended deals, getting paid a kings ransom and have shocking attitudes... How do we think their attitudes will be when their salaries are halved in coming years?

No, he's being judged by many on his perceived relationships with certain players and is being crucified for their suspicions.

I've nothing more to say on this just ******* tired of it.

Im pretty sure he’s also on $1M or close to it, this year. I’m aware t drops off considerably. Regardless, Martin is still very well paid and has a history of not putting in the effort required to be a consistent AFL player.

So next year when he drops to 400-450k or whatever it is, are you going to judge him against that figure?

Surely we can't bring Murphy in?

One of our worst tackle and pressure games of the season. What message does that send?

I guess it sends the message that Murphy was dropped and we still played the same unaccountable way, so the problem isn't necessarily Murphy. We dropped SPS and still played the same way so it isn't him either.

My thoughts are that it is a really simple system taught in a complicated way. We maybe don't have enough veteran mids that can teach the other players on field. Curnow is not a coaching type and Cripps is battling to do it himself so can't teach anyone. Walsh can play the system and lead by example, but he's not the main voice out there.

We really could have done with a veteran midfielder for a year or two, at least a year ago. A Cunnington/Jones type ... hard edged veterans who understand defensive systems and play team games.

His whole career he has been an inconsistent tease of a player who gets injured. Hasn't changed since switching clubs and getting paid a lot of money

Agreed. As good as Crouch can be, I’m glad we didn’t go for him. Horrible role model by all accounts. Would rather someone a little more average that is a good leader off field.

although, to be fair I know we hoped Martin would be an inside mid. I reckon he could be the best player in the comp when fit, unfortunately that hasn’t eventuated.

How do you feel about team selection this season, What about last season? Teagues win loss record, was worse last year, than his record in 2019, his record this year, is worse than last year, this is what I judge him on.

Williams and Martin have copped it all week, hopefully some home truths have sunk in and they respond.. if they don’t it will be very telling.

Still for a side that is 4-9, how many debutants have we had this year?? Parks is the only one I can think of.. would have been nice to bring in Carroll to see how he goes..

Yeah, just the one. Carroll and Ramsay are definitely pushing. Honey this week, this would be his first right?

Jack Martin, the last two games, has been poor, not by $1M per year standards, by 19 year old kids in their first season standard.

He is 26 years old and has over 100 games under his belt, he has been poor and should have been dropped.

If he drops to $500,000 next year or $400,000, it doesn’t matter, if he plays like he has the last two weeks, he should be dropped.

Definetly one thing that has annoyed me, we haven't even blooded any youth. Parks and owies are the only two who have been given a go. Owies a success and parks shown a few nice things (but alot to work on)

Sure we've had some injuries but FMD, time to give blokes a go. Let's see what some of these kids have and bring to the side.

Yes but if we are taking a stance on poor defensive efforts then he is probably right at the top of the list.
Okay I see your point, I don’t think he’s droppable as he’s been unreal - but yeah, he hasn’t taken a single intercept mark this year which was something Fevola was incredible for. He does lay 1.5 tackles a game, and his tackles are scary. So that’s some consolation. I think he has such an anaerobic composition by design, look at how big and muscular he is. Very hard to run when you’re a 6’10 big **** off muscle unit

Please, if Murphy is to play, make him sub.

SPS and Cripps at all attacking stoppages. Walsh and Kennedy at all defensive stoppages, except for when Kennedy is playing forward of course. I'd prefer the poise and clearing capacity of the latter pair in the danger zone. Meanwhile SPS is better as an attacking inside mid as his lowering of the eyes will be a benefit, not a frustration and Cripps hacking it out won't hurt as much. Much the same with Curnow really. I'd like him to be a defensive half forward again as he has a liking for scrappy goals.

I want Honey as a high half forward.

If Newman does make the cut and I'm not convinced he should, then get Stocker off the last line FFS.

Assuming Plowman is declared fit to play...

OUT: Pittonet, Newman, Fisher, Parks, Newnes
IN: SPS, Plowman, Honey, Murphy

That's a quicker team, but I would have preferred SPS to continue developing his body with a lighter match day experience via the VFL. If Plowman isn't fit, I'd like us to bring in O'Brien and send Docherty into defence, rather than pick Newman.

O'Brien may still make an appearance in the finalised bench, but regardless it's nice to see his name back in the mix.

Let's try this again Jim

Why would you have Newman as an out, again, given Parks is out and Plow could be underdone.

And if Plow is out, why would you have Doc as a backmen over Newman, given Doc has been so bad this year as a defender, they had to move him to a wing?

And, why are you still picking Murphy, again, when he refuses to run 2 ways and is a defensive liability

Overall, why do you always have the same players as ins and outs, again, all year
