Were soft in the midfield. Would have even tried Townsend in there for a bit of hardness.

Snelling not AFL standard IMO & Merret, McGrath get brushed aside too easily. We never seem to recruit real hardnuts

Both Ham and Snelling aren't AFL quality imo, even though they've shown glimpses.

I mean they've played, what, 14 games between them? Glimpses is what you want to see at this stage of their career.

I find it hard to blame that on the forward line. They were pretty efficient and presented fairly well i thought (it's hard to tell on TV of course). Our defense was very good. You can't ask much more. Perhaps more overlap but they were under the pump - a lot.

This leads to the concern. The midfield. For all the zyz was ok, or was tagged or great on Cripps etc - collectively they were well beaten. We are nowhere near the best sides here - still. Things could get ugly against Collingwood next week.

Clearly aren't ready tbh. Not saying they don't have potential but Ham is just way too small and Snelling can't find the footy consistently.

Trouble is with our team there are just too many small blokes.

We have a long way to go as a football club. Seeing Liverpool finally win the league title after 30 years at least gives me hope things can change and one day i'll see Essendon win another flag. Games like this happen of course, but overall if they want to be seen as a serious football club, they should be more consistent with their efforts. Tbh, for me Essendon is a mediocre club going nowhere. There is plenty of talent on that list and its a shame to see these type of performances. With Parish being played out of position, id like to think its part of his development but im not sure about that either. Play players in their best positions is what i know,

Jeez I hope the interrupted week and missing really affected us. Because that was pretty pathetic. Hard to think of any of our players who had a good game.

Parish was paying good odds to get 20 or more disposals. Thought it would be easy money as surely, surely he would be played in the middle.

Lol, kings of the long looping bombs down the line, hack kicking to opposition presses and our real speciality, the panic handball to mates under pressure (pretty much our default setting if the midfield is quashed) while all or any creativity just flys out the window...

We are our own worst enemies mostly!

Trying to race Formula 1 midfields with a Datsun 120y...

We have so much work to do. My biggest concern is our foot skills. I’m not sure if it’s the game plan but constantly kicking the ball blindly long is doing my head in.
