I don't really see Melbourne as a threat. I think Brisbane are playing great footy, but still playing a final or GF at the MCG, l would still have doubts on them winning. At home they will be close to unbeatable in a final.
Geelong will come good at the business end of the season, it's a guarantee, as they always seem to time their run well with form and finals.
I think Brisbane, Geelong, PA and a dark horse Adelaide, will be the biggest threats...
Melbourne at their best are scary but we've rarely seen their best this year.

Would definitely rather avoid playing Brisbane in Brisbane in a final as well

Yep Melbourne and Brisbane are the two genuine contenders I think, outside of us. I still think the Swans are capable but with their start they’ll be coming from outside the top four which suggests this year isn’t the year.

Our other option is Maynard.

I’m worried about Murphy’s ability to keep up with Curnow. Maynard is only giving away 3 cm, does play relatively tall and has successfully played on Buddy

Buddy towelled Bruzzy up in the prelim. It was a horrid coaching move and the game turned once we put Moore on to him.

The reality is Curnow is a star and will kick goals. Murphy is our best option tomorrow. We defend really well as a defensive unit and as a team in general. Whilst Murph will be the direct opponent, he will have plenty of help.

Well it was 8 weeks ago, and they're a totally different side now. Looks like their whole game style has changed, in the way they move the ball, to when we played them. They play similar to Adelaide now, so they will be tough to beat, particularly at home.
Melbourne should've won this game, considering the outs for PA, particularly no Dixon or Marshall up forward. I just wonder how good Melbourne actually are, as 6 of their 7 wins have been against sides outside the 8, plus they were pumped by Essendoom....

They were coming off a 10 goal belting of Brisbane in Round 1. Hardly a different side to the one we smacked in Round 2.

We have done a remarkable job in recent weeks. We are still missing five best 23 players. That's a substantial portion of the team. If we can hold the fort until after the bye we should have a very strong team in the back half of the year. As some have said it's likely others will fall even when the injured crop return. When was the last time we had a Brisbane like run with our best 22 staying healthy for most of a season? I think it was 2010. It shows you how important the health of your squad is. Fingers crossed.

I quite dislike Leigh Montagna but I do get a hearty laugh out of watching him gawking at Maher in that clip 😂

Joey is an interesting one.

Massive Pies fan as a kid. Drafted to the Saints to only have his heartbroken by the Pies.

You could see the disdain he had for us last year and he didn't want to rate us. However, he's one that's changed his tune this season. He's a pies man at heart.

They should’ve had Dailey Thomas bring us home.

You've just thrown your cash in the bin.

Curnow and McKay are clearly the difference. In round 23 last year they took 18 marks between them but kicked 8 behinds. Cripps also dominated so they had every chance.
If we negate Cripps slightly and win clearances it will be huge for us.

Sydney will be coming from outside the top 12. They're cooked.
Unless their absolute horrid run with injury to KPP continues they’ll get in when the men are sorted from the boys late in the year and pretenders like Adelaide and St Kilda flake.

They’re two one goal upsets from being 5-4 and outside the 8 only by percentage having faced a far more difficult complement of teams in their early season run than the sides they’d be in competition with.

Need to also restrict Walsh who didn’t play. To be honest I think Walsh is the less taggable prospect.

We are still missing five best 23 players.

Given what we've seen from their "replacements" I'm not sure how many best 23 we actually are missing.

Assuming Cameron plays , we're missing

Dean , Frampton ,Howe , Kreuger, Lippa , McStay , Richards

Would 5 of those come in this weekend if available? And for whom? Good problem to have I guess.

All in the eye of the beholder. They definitely look a much better side then what l saw play at the G in round 2. Considering they have won 7 in a row since we belted them, l think that shows a fair bit of improvement there. But everyone sees the game different, and obviously you do....👍

The issue is that star tall defenders are so influential that a massive hole is left when you lose one. And Paddy is a star tall defender. If he can't return, they're not getting back to 2022 performance.

Lippa, McStay and Frampton (has claims) are best 23. Lippa especially according to fly, they miss him greatly, our best runner. We miss the way he uses the ball inside 50, think his loss has been underrated. Will come straight in.
Mcstay is best 23 also. And Howe. Question marks on Dean (given he has never played) and Kreuger (can't stay on the park)

I agree on Lippa as it’s quite a defined role but the rest ..... Frampton has claims but less so that Cameron and Cox are back . McStay and Howe would be on reputation alone - I’d rather see some form unless Fly considers McStay as crucial to structure.

And the rest need to prove durability in the VFL

Lippa would improve us.
One of Howe/Frampton - if we feel we're stronger with three aerial defenders.
I'm sceptical about whether McStay would improve us, perhaps minimally.

There's a bit of improvement if we get everyone back, but our depth is pretty strong and those playing instead are playing well, so I don't think the improvement is very large.

Generally at least one middling team hits thier straps from this point of the season and goes on a run . It was us last year.

Plenty of teams could turn out to be a threat come finals. But my guess it's a younger team on the rise, rather than an old champ picking themselves up off the rope

Freo could scrape in with their home ground advantage.

An extraordinary piece of footage. Kane Cornes unexpressive, Sanderson unexpressive, Lyon unexpressive, Carey unexpressive, Montagna almost unexpressive. They've just watched the craziest last round 23 and finish they'll ever see. None of them could give a rat's. I wonder how they'd have felt if Carton got up.

Just a bunch entitled ex footballers with attitude and think their shit don’t stink. Just a job for them and it shows.

At least Carey no longer has that job.
Puts a smile on my face.
