As Fly says, it’s all about setting up a player for success.
Cameron probably can’t ruck out a game (like normal). You also probably can’t select him as solely a forward. He needs at least a half of footy in the VFL. Then, bring him in for the soft kill against Norf and have him ready for Gawn.
We need an extra tall for Carlton’s 3 talls up forward. For no real reason (somebody has to go )…. Markov out, Ruscoe in.
Markov becomes the sub.

If Cameron is fit you could definitely swap him for Johnson and we'd be a slightly better side.

Johnson is kicking 1 goal a game and largely uncompetitive in the ruck. Darcy Cameron can do better than that on average.

Listen to Flys press conference and you realise AJ ain't going anywhere , he was glowing in his praise about his tackling and effort

Gee they’re a melancholy bunch over on the Blues’ board. No swagger, no hubris - just depression. I almost feel sorry for them. OK, not really. Let’s crush ‘em!

Ok - you go on to retract this but I'm a little concerned you could even get these words out initially - hope you're feeling better now

Yes you do 😂

If Cox plays next week, there’s no need for Cameron to play, except in the VFL to get some form.

I think Cameron comes straight back in, like Coxy did. Lets us keep our structure more, particularly keeping Johnson up forward.
McStay and Lipinski, when they're back in the next 2 to 3 weeks, l see playing some VFL footy before coming straight back to senior footy....

Cox should have played VFL but as we copped another injury they had to roll the dice on him.

I’d play Cameron in the VFL.

Watching the game today I’d say this is categorically incorrect.

I was talking about last week v swans.

Abosolutely I’m glad in hindsight it was proved to be incorrect.

But if frampton wasn’t injured and/or other rucks available two weeks back v Swans, , it would have been reasonable to allow cox one game in the vfl to build his match fitness after a long break and limited training.

This is a luxury we should be able to afford Cameron.

Hopefully Cameron right...it's in the realms of possibility based on the last injury report.

If so...

Cameron - IN
Reef - OUT

Sub TBC! Maybe Markov. Or if anyone needs some injury management - give them a go as sub perhaps.

In: Cameron
Out: McInnes

Nothing wrong with McInnes’ work and I prefer yesterday’s structure which was pretty effective score wise Doc1763, but I don’t think it can get us aerial output like that consistently without McStay. It basically took a 1 in a 100 match from Cox to get us there. The dual rucks, while taking away some run, for this week will allow us to maintain structure ahead of the ball because Johnson remains forward. The better teams are also taking away our ball movement forcing us to go long more often so if he’s right Cameron gets the call up.

The sub is anyone’s guess. Ginnivan wasn’t great with a few “efforts” raising my eyebrows, but then he came up with that flick on to Hill to set up WHE’s Q4 goal which was brilliant. I think he needs continuity to get rock hard fit and find that consistency of effort so IDK. Maybe it’s Pendles and you pull the tactical sub early if they’re on top. It could also be Markov based on matchups, but again like Ginnivan I’d like to see him get 4 quarters so that hopefully becomes the standard (doubtful considering like Cox it was the high water mark of his career). Perhaps it’s WHE to ease his workload, but with him finally getting reward for effort it feels rough. It could also be Elliott to de-load him although like WHE you’d rather not after he found some form. Hill’s in a similar spot after finding form… The counterpoint to all of the above is GWS’s effort was abysmal so was the bump in form from some of the above about them bouncing back or getting an easy kill? The club will know.

It’s a great problem to have and it’s a shame we’ll take an injury out of this Carlton clash to not make it even more difficult once Frampton’s fit.

I have a lot of Blues mates. They are all quietly confident that they will roll us on Sunday. Mind you they are confident before every game. Very deluded bunch.

That's what we thought about Daniher and Hipwood what we were about to play brisbane, and they kicked 8 between them against us.

We still need to have our best team against them to shut them down, or we'll get beaten.
That's largely because we were abysmal that night. It's hard to see how they wouldn't have run up a score between them.

If we outplay Carlton and don't allow them an endless flow of supply to the two keys they shouldn't really be a large issue. It would be hard to completely nullify them, they'll likely kick a few between them but they should not be the reason we lose, if we were to.

We will end them.

Of course they're confident. That's one reason we despise them for - their self assured belief in their ability to beat the filth and the scum no matter where the clubs stand on the ladder. It's an irrational but powerful system that eats your morals and nibbles at your tolerance levels. It's called 'hate'.

Danger game, blues GF they will come out fighting. The pies can't afford to rock up and expect to win. Not confident. Hope I'm wrong.
Go take a look at their results this season, especially the last 5 rounds. They have been fluckin horrendous.

They are looking down the barrel of a disastrous season.

If Vossy wasn't contracted for 2024, he would be in serious strife in a month or so. He still might be. Mathieson is causing trouble already.

So very arrogant. Mind you, until recently they did have the upper hand. The overall ledger between us 130-128 in our favour. It's tight, and for years they were slightly up in the head-to-head. I'm amazed that we haven't played against each other in finals since 1988 (actually i shouldn't be, as the Blues haven't been relevant in over 20 years).

You can't say Cameron will come back in and not choose someone to make way!
I think Jen is just pointing out that it's not her decision.

Cameron will definitely come in and some poor bloke is going to be sub that doesn't deserve the "demotion".

Vossy won't see out the season. Contracts don't mean much in professional sports.
