Bloody hell didn't see this coming

I expected Rampe to be back for this game but I didn't expect Amartey to be, he had a bad hamstring injury and I thought he would be out for longer.

They are both handy inclusions but the Swans will still be well below full strength with Parker, Mills Ladhams, McDonald, Reid and the McCartins missing.

We should be closer to full strength than what they will be so we will have no excuse for losing to them, at least when it comes to our missing players.

That was the good thing about him having time in the ruck.
His ruck work was "whatever" but it got him time in the middle.

His ruck work is better than Marshall’s. High HOTA ratio and really directs them.

At least it sounds like Mitchito is good to go and will be picked. Probably be our strongest team on paper so far this year.

On paper but no Clark and Steele playing injured makes it less good.

Training today:
  • Went for about 90 minutes
  • Enthusiasm was good
  • New fitness guy did the warm up
  • Training generally seemed to be at a higher intensity than the last time I went
  • 5 on 5 handball keepings off drill in a small space - pretty much full on pressure with tackling
  • Owens looks ready to go
  • Just a hunch but looks to me Windhager will get a full game in the midfield Thursday as he was training with the midfield group at the end & did some solo ground ball work at the end (his ball handling is very good) - looked up beat
  • Match simulation with pretty good ball movement
  • Jones & DMac pretty much trained by themselves
  • Billings, Bytel, Hayes, Allison & McLennan (?) just ran laps
  • RTB more involved than I have seen previously
Hopefully all of the above translates into an improved performance.

Go Saints!
Good one
Thanks Cob

Amartey is a big in for them. They've looked much more dangerous up forward when he plays.
Armatey has been out for sometime so if he returns via the AFL he will be under done, although he was in pretty good form before his hamstring injury. They might play him just to have the three tall forwards and release Buddy - will definitely make it interesting.

A reporter quoted in RTB interview that we haven't won at the SCG since 2009, 13 years of pain surely it needs to end. I farrkin hate Sydney....

Not saying he isnt a good inclusion or not but his last few games arent exactly breathtaking.

Also, I’m off overseas to the states, then central/ South America, but wouldn’t mind watching the mighty sainters play (when suits), is there a way I can watch the games live on my phone? Thanks in advance.

Just in the airport after two months away - VPN and Kayo for the games that were at a watchable time. Discipline and the AFL website replay for those that weren't on at a reasonable time. Means staying in the dark about the result until the next day but it costs nothing.

No but completely falling off a cliff in work rate is unacceptable. Working 5 x less.
What if we weren’t actually “fitter than everyone else”

We did sack our fitness coach.

What if everyone else was operating at 80% and we were redlining and we’ve now blown the engine

On paper but no Clark and Steele playing injured makes it less good.
I believe in Steele to not play himself this week if he’s going to perform the same. He’s had like a month in the 1s PLUS the bye. If he’s still playing like that we need to rest him. It’s like watching cripps play when he had the back fractures from carrying Carlton too much. Depressing

I remember early last season before the wheels fell off, that commentators were saying how fit the Saints looked, though a big part of our doing well was Paddy having good games, then he got rubbed out and we lost a bit of zing and direction, not to mention DMac and Jones going down- two hard runners around stoppages. Unfortunately, our midfield is not the engine room it should be now, and looks pale compared to the rest of the top 8 teams. Not an easy fix.
