He's probably sent you to a leather bar. Bring your amyl and leather chaps just in case
It was a thought but anyone of us travelling to watch us play needs some kindness at the moment.
I'm sure he'll end up in a dark bar on Oxford St after the game regardless of the result in any case. 😉

Is our list that bad though?
At Sandy:
2 key backs Adams JVE
2 key forwards: Keeler Alison
Mids: Windy, Hotton, Bytel
Injured:
Hayes, Coffield, Jones, Dmac

Yes we need to keep going to the draft but I don’t think the list is that diabolical.
I certainly prefer our list now to this one:

I know that the club has to make a hard run at the season while we're in the thick of the eight, and I certainly don't support in-game tanking....

But with all the results over the last week or two, we're only 2 or 3 wins above a top 5 pick. I know nothing about this year's draft, but that could be a top 2 or 3 midfielder. Not saying we need to drop quite that far...

Surely there's a temptation to change the focus of the year of exploration to exploring what Bytel-Windy-Owens-Phillipou can do together in the guts. Giving them that game time together could serve us well in years to come.

If we spend the whole year establishing that Crouch-Steele-Ross plus one kid aint gonna get it done, it seems like a bit of a waste of a year at this point.

But, the fact is that we're in 5th until at least Thursday, so hard to see big changes being made.

Hilarious stuff, but once again I refer you back to some of Dard's finest moments

All a bit rich coming from you weird operators.

Ps - Who knows where the night will take me xx

I struggle with this also
Play for now or play for future I’m not sure doing both is feasible
I do know now this list has holes everywhere and a lack of top end mid talent
Personally don’t care about finals but would love a top 5 pick mid ..

I don’t think you can calculate the picks that way. If we get pick 5 or pick 10 it could still fall either way in terms of talent.
Developing a culture is what matters. The young players you identified will likely play a big part anyway. Steele, Crouch and Ross will also play a part but you’d think RTB will start to “explore”.

I doubt the club would back that. They've nailed their balls to Lyon's mast and are not going to want to turn around and head back into harbour. If we start to fall away or injury keeps hitting the midfield that should take care of itself.

I'd rather be like the Hawks and go for wins. The loser attitude is very hard to shake once you've established it.

Our losses to Collingwood, PA, Adelaide and the Hawks, were set up by the opposition mids dominating early in the game- there's a real problem that needs sorting.

I'd say that that's the simplistic answer, the systems that won us games early got worked out and those clubs stopped us playing our game. We also started to tire or look less like we wanted to work hard at some point. Injury to Steele has made us look exposed too. More quality mids is part of the answer but there is more to it than that.

The whole team has dropped their work rate. That’s what made us so hard to play against earlier. The constant pressure coming from everywhere.
Now we are like a wet paper bag to break through.

Simplistic, but unless we get hands on the ball, there's a good chance it goes in the other direction. It's not rocket surgery.

Is our system entirely reliant on just working 5x harder than anyone else? No wonder it fell apart. It’s a long season

Seems unfathomable that we have a game to play on Thursday night and they only just returned to the club yesterday. So presumably one proper training session in 11 or 12 days between the two games. Hope they know what they’re doing!

Looking forward to seeing what changes we’ve made to the team and also the way we play, given the chance to reset, off the back of the lacklustre last month of footy.

Yeah, absolutely try and win. But do it with players that will be there in a few years time.
If we go down, trying...all good, the better the midfielder we'll get.

Look, I know, I know. I probably wouldn't do it either.

Just saying, all these other results have made good picks really close despite being in 5th. And we need top end stuff. Of course you can get it at 10, sometimes....but this last draft, there were some sure fire hits early that might not be there at 10 in the next draft.

And teams have dropped down and bounced right back up, largely with the help of the gun they drafted. Doesn't always create a losing culture.

But yes, you're right. Just thinking aloud.

You’d have to think that it’s time to have Mitch playing a lot more footy in the guts. And it was a good sign that that is likely to happen that he either started in there in his last game, or at worst was in there for the 2nd centre bounce, which is not something that had been happening prior to Max returning. Don’t remember him having spent time in the guts in any other game, except when he was rucking.

Hopefully Skunk returns to peak form soon so that he can play as that 3rd marking target up there and we can unleash Mitch for at least half a game in the guts.

Tony said they trained Saturday and Sunday. Don't panic.
