Our mids got owned tho, and he isn't your in and under extractor. Regardless of cba on the eye v gws he looked like he was playing around 50% mids - he got a fair bit of ball forward of centre and was delivering into the forwardline. Adelaide game, he only had 12 from 35 centre bounces and he was OK by his standards and we got belted. You could argue we should have played him more on ball that game and were wasting him on hbf
74% disposals in the defensive half against GWS.

We've been turning to s**t since the Quarter Time break in the Port Adelaide game.

We'd currently be the 14-16th best team in form alone you'd have to think.

If we win this in Sydney, I'll be in absolute shock.

Our form line over the past 5 games is no different than Sydney's.

Why can they turn it around but now us?

I don't think they're in a rush to put Daicos in the middle and away from half back. Maybe at the start he was there in an "apprenticeship" role so he could get some games under his belt in an easy position but he's not just there, he's a cruicial piece of their structure now. They orchestrate everything from that half back position then through the midfield run it all the way to the forward line. All starts from him though. Sinclair the same.

He plays quite a unique role there, so much of their game plan relies on his distribution and creativity but I think sides will work them out and as older guys retire they'll be tempted to move him into the middle.

It will depend on what his contested game is like I guess. These days sides set up with a HB and HF as extra mids, they just run in from the edge of the square as soon as the ball is bounced, often there is a second ball-up and they're around the ball anyway. You only need to play around the actual midfield if you are a good inside contested player.

Not many sides break from the centre cleanly more than one or two times a game. He very likely stays in that HBF/wing hybrid role but it really is a mid role anyway.

I hope the players haven't got your attitude. The Swans are shit and on one leg too. We look like our overachieving on the back of new coach energy and youthful exuberance has fallen away and we are finding our true level IMO.

We look like a side that should be playing for a spot between 5th and 15th. It's the tightest season ever. Geelong has been losing to ordinary sides because of a few injuries too. No-one is an easy kill.

If we want to play final we have to compete with the sides around our level and win more than we lose. It's a test but I reckon we should be fairly confident.

While obviously our formline isn't great, I believe we're a bloody good chance to knock off the swans in Sydney. Their backline looks pretty average, forwards kinda meh. Hopefully a week and a half off for Jack Steele will help to enable him to have more impact in the middle, where of course the game will be won or lost. Looking like Mitchito should be back, surely they'll pick Windy too. Maybe Windy with Warner?

Even though we've been looking pretty average and always seem to struggle against the swans in Sydney, I reckon we're a good show next week. Parker out helps the cause, important player for them. Smaller ground should help with our defensive systems too, and I reckon Max may well be in for a big one.

Same with backline, Battle, Wilkie, Sinclair and Stocker are good winking contests

Ok maybe my eye was off, off the stats it looks like usually he is playing mid roughly 25- 30% midfield he is playing. my point still stands i dont think because he played roughly 40% mid against the Hawks and had one of his lower output games, it doesn't mean he shouldn't play midfield. He has played great games and average games with his usual 25-30% mid time.

I think it was more that 40% though, going off centre bounces attendances he attended 61%

Maybe it is just a coincidence but looking at all his best games this year it’s when his centre bounces attendances are at the lower point of the scale.

I’m not advocating for him to be taken out of there completely, but I’m definitely not sold that playing him more midfield than half back is going to help us.

Also having more possessions in our defensive half could be due to the side having to get their possessions on the rebound. GWS have a gun midfield so we probably had to win it back off them rather than get first use. Most of our mids and field players move back into defence.

We tend to use more short possession chains in the back half then go fast and long on the counter. That should show as more touches inside defence.

Yeah fair enough. I don't think he should be predominantly mid. Up to 50/50. He adds something really unique with his skills and composure but gives us great drive behind the ball as well. Behind the ball NWM is playing awesome and has a bit of that, Wilkie does too, but without the pace.

Our whole midfield group has been underperforming a lot. Maybe if Steele is playing injured it is making it too hard for the other 2 in rotation🤷 really looking forward to seeing Owens in there - he looks like he could be a bit like a Fyfe type mid.

Owens is probably the one guy that could really make a difference to our midfield right now. I really do hope we back him in there from here on.

Windy will probably take a bit of time but could give us something different with his pace and agility.

One thing you can say about our losses is that their doesn’t appear to be much of a pattern other than poor clearance work.
We’ve started putting in forwards as they’ve become available and to some degree this has destabilised us.
It will take a few weeks for Caminiti, King, Membrey, Owens to start working well together.

He does play a unique role. My only point is that we’re blessed to have the only player in the afl who can do that role at the same level in Sinclair. You watch both of them and they’re so similar. 30-35+ touches lots of score involvements metres gained incredible kicking

Training report from this morning.
I was a little upset and needed to calm down before I posted.
No one rocked up to train.
No one.
No player.
No coach.
No one.
What the hell is going on with this club?
A bad four weeks of football and everything falls apart.
Apparently the players and coaches have been sent off to various places: Noosa, Port Douglas, Bali, Patpong.
It’s this type of lackadaisical approach to football that I was concerned about when RTB was appointed.
Some serious questions need to be asked.
I reckon Caro will have a field day with this, just like she did with Cripps staying in a different hotel in Sydney.
(PS: I don’t know what Gresh thinks he’ll see/do in Patpong. Maybe he gets some happy moments discount there.)

The whole club‘s stuffed. At this rate we’ll be lucky if anyone turns up to the next match.

I don't disagree with you but this is not my attitude, this is the reality of how we're playing right now.

The zone is being broken regularly. We can't buy a high quality clearance and as of last week, we can barely hold a tackle!

We could beat Sydney, absolutely. Round 1-4 St Kilda would beat Sydney, but our current form and history tells seems to point to a loss!

Time will tell

I'm hopeful this break over the bye will allow our players to recharge and get back to the sort of workrate and pressure we shewed in the earlier rounds but I'm not confident of it with what we have showed in the more recent rounds. How we respond against Sydney will tell us a lot about where we're at.

After reading where gringo2011 compared him to Jordan DeGoey and Dusty Martin, Gresh decided to get some travel advice from the two greats

Crouch is going really well. He's probably been our most consistent player this year. Some of those player rankings have him above Sinclair as our best player. Nearly everyone else has fallen over but Crouch is still going fell tilt. He was one of the few that looked like they gave a s**t on the weekend.
yep but still has slow up and under kicks

Didn't look like losing a game with Cordy in the side.

Mitchito listed as 1-2 weeks still. Has he had a setback?

I thought fox footy last night mentioned he’s on track to return after the bye. Either way I need to find new hobbies
